These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Proof Of The "Incident"

If you haven't read the previous post, you might want to, so this will make more sense.

I walked into the garage this morning, ready to fix yesterday's mess as well as possible. Once I got the car out of the way, the view was, well, sobering. Yet, in light of the fact that I wasn't seriously hurt, it is pretty 3-stooges-funny! I decided to take a few pictures to explain it all.

First of all here is the view of the table, just so you have the overall effect. I moved the tool boxes back into their places, on the left of the table.

I landed with my butt on the large silver tool box and both ankles between the cross bar and those 2 smaller tool boxes. You can see that there was a tad more room for my left ankle which was between the red box and the bar, but the right one was really tight and painful against the small box in the foreground. That last one is an old, old box and has sharper edges and corners (you can see the other boxes have rounded edges and corners). When Laura got here, I shifted my weight to the white tub so she could pull out the big box, then slide the front one back and out, freeing my feet.

This is just a close up of my shackles. Not all that impresssive because there is nothing to show how tight the space really is, so . . .

. . . so I slipped my sandal back into the space to show that. What? NO! No way was I putting my foot in there!! If you can imagine a foot in the shoe, the ankle should be coming up exactly where the cross bar is! Yeah, it hurt!!

Geez, do I feel klutzy! Geez, I AM klutzy!!

Have a good weekend, everyone!

  1. Don't you hate it when these things happen.

The good news is that you were rescued.

  3. Thanks for the pictures. Laura tried explaining to me what exactly happened, but I was still having a hard time picturing it. Now I see. So glad you are alright and that Laura works at home now.

  4. ragged - absolutely true. A friend said on the phone today said, it was a good day. Any day that you walk away from a potentially serious accident *must* be viewed as a good day.

cameo - I feel fortunate for everything happening as it did. Thanks!

caroline - I knew it sounded mixed up. And of course, Laura probably didn't completely put it together back to the original "oopsie." I have been working out there today, but believe me, I've thought before I've done anything. Don't ever want to be in that kind of circumstnace again. Scary to think that I could have been still sitting there today if I'd not had the phone with me.

  6. sassy - A friend today said the same thing. He said he is glad that I am not in the hospital with both legs in traction! He added that considering the possible alternatives to my current discomfort, I should certainly consider yesterday a *good* day! I think he and you are right!

  7. Owwie! Those visuals really do put it all in perspective! Thank goodness you're such a smart lady... I'd never think to keep a phone handy!

  8. catherine - I believe that all things have a purpose. A few weeks ago, a contractor was here to give me an estimate. I inadvertently locked us out of the house. On that occasion, Laura wasn't home (they keep an extra key for me) and while he had a cell phone, I couldn't remember any of the nubmers to arrange a key. We found one window not locked, so he crawled in and opened the house. Since then, I've tried to be careful to carry a phone with me. I'm rather of the belief that that incident prepared me for yesterday! whew!!

  9. You're not klutzy, that could have happened to anyone. But Lyni, you have WAAAAY too many toolboxes. Holey Moley. Off to Toolboxes Anonymous -- as quick as you can.

  10. sandra - LOL! You're right! Some of them are going to a garage sale! A friend went through my husband's tools and made me a set of the best of each to take with me. I'm almost as bad as most men are about tools; I don't know what all I have and not sure of what all do, but I'll figure it out!

  12. fatty - It was certainly interesting! It turnred out well, fortunately, and truth be known, I don't need any help in finding a way to have an accident, either. Just feel goofy when it is over!

m - Oh, goodness, if I had to avoid all the places I've managed to injure myself, I'd have to sit completely still!

traci - Yes, I'm glad I'm OK, also. I have been uncomfortable and achy for the last 2 days, as always happens when you jar your body like that, but nothing worse. Even the bruise on the ankle is minor. It is hard to believe that I came out OK, after seeing the pix. I was amazed myself.

If you have something to say about it, just stick out your thumb, and I'll slow down so you can hop aboard! But hang on, 'cause I'm movin' on down the road!!! No time to waste!!!
