These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

A Quick Note

Nothing seems to be broken in the wrist. X-rays were negative (or should that be "positive"?). The doctor said it it probably a sprain. I am to get a splint that will imobilize my thumb since the pain is mostly at the base of the thumb. I had to come home because the heating/air system is getting it's semiannual check today and they should be here very soon.. After they finish doing that, I'll go get the splint. If it doesn't improve by next week, I will have to see an orthelpedic doctor to see what is going on.

So that is good, in general. The problem is that I won't be able to lift very well, and I won't be very agile in handling the hammer or power tools. There isn't much left to do, but I will need to do some of the above. I'm sure I can find some help, but it is an inconvenience, for sure.

It could certainly be worse. I guess I'd better quit griping and get on with it!! Good day, all!!

  1. That's good news. With athletic injuries I ice for 20 minutes 3xday and begin massage after one week.
On a positive note, when we learn to do things with our 'off-side' like left handed for example, it increases neural pathways, coordination, balance and athleticism. Not kidding.

  2. Glad to hear that there is nothing broken. Hang in there, the end is near.

  3. seven - Thanks for the advice. The Doc said the same thing about icing it. I'd forgotten about the off-side stimulation. I am such a strong "righty" that it is har for me to do that, but I concertedly try to do some things lefthanded for that reason. I'm learning to use several tools with the left, except the hammer. I can't hit a nail left handed for anything!

caroline - I can feel the end now. It is finally seeming real to me that I'll be done very soon! Awesome feeling!!

  4. I'm glad nothing is broken. I hope it heals quickly. Now, while you're recuperating, I'm giving you the honorary lefty award. We don't give it out to just anyone. The award and a lot of pocket change might buy you a cup of coffee... Just think. This is an opportunity for all of your friends to show their character and help out. I'll be here to help at the other end, but hopefully you'll be healed by then. (I'll still help)

  6. Glad to hear that you didn't break it. It will be an inconvenience, but something tells me that it won't slow you down a bit. Tiny boxes, that's the answer.

  7. ragged - The timing was, I suppose, as good as it could have been. Most of what is left is small stuff. I realigned the tasks to do "tiny b oxes" now and save the power tools things for next week. And a couple big tasks have been claimed by a friend or two. It'll work out.

  9. patti - Easy for you to say!! Oh, I'll be OK. I had a wrist splint which I was using, but this new one immobilizes my thumb. Try typing with no thumb!! grrrrr! Down, girl, down!! You'll have BEG hunting you down!! ;-)

  11. old lady - Thanks. Have you ever noticed that having a nuisance injury is sometimes more frustrating than the really nasty ones? I feel handicapped and I'm having to adjust every little move I make. pouting.

If you have something to say about it, just stick out your thumb, and I'll slow down so you can hop aboard! But hang on, 'cause I'm movin' on down the road!!! No time to waste!!!
