When I was a little bitty squirt I had SUCH a crush on Roy Rogers. I know some of you have no idea what I'm talking about. Allow me to enlighten you. Roy Rogers was a cowboy movie star and singer in the 1930s, 40s, and 50s. I fell in love when I was about three or four, in the mid 40s. I had a cowgirl outfit ( red corduroy skirt and vest with white plastic fringe, and a red cowboy hat with white trim) that I would put on and when I heard his music on the radio or could talk someone into putting his records on the record player, I would dance like a crazy woman, er, child around the living room. Often I was entertaining the adults, but I wasn't particular. I just danced for love !!!
Here he is with his wife Dale Evans.
And here he is alone, Hubba, hubba!
One more. Sighhhhhh.
And then I got to be a little older and my crush faded. I still liked him, don't get me wrong, but I was too old for childish crushes when I was a more mature eight or nine.
And about the time I was nine, I fell for another man. This time it lasted for 55 years. It began when my sister brought home this handsome man.
Hmmm. There is a likeness between the two men, don't you think? Getting right down to the nitty-gritty, I think my brother-in-law was the more handsome of the two.
I honestly didn't notice this until the last couple days, so I just had to share it.
Tomorrow I'm moving on to other topics, but that just had to be recognized tonight. :')
These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................
If I can find a movie of Roy and/or Dale on I make sure to point it out to the kids and we usually watch them him and Gene Autrey. Great cowboys with great values your bro in law had to be a great guy to compare to him. Just know he is at peace peace and hugs to you my friend

Thank you, Bobbie. He was an exceptional man. I don't remember ever seeing him angry. I'm sure he was from time to time, but only his better side showed.
ReplyDeleteI would die without my Western Channel on Encore. Well, I love cowboys and we have some handsome ones around here, Oh to be 50 years younger, lol. Your BIL was a very handsome guy and I know you will miss him greatly.
ReplyDeleteMoni, I haven't watched that channel much. Do they still show Roy Rogers films? Yes, my BIL was very handsome and is missed deeply.
