There is a song on one of my CDs that I will be playing as I leave Kansas City. Are any of you familiar with Eva Cassidy? She sang pop, blues and jazz, and she was just coming into her place in the music world when she was diagnosed with cancer. She died in 1996, a great loss to the music world. Her voice is one of the most exquisite I've ever heard. Eva was multi-talented. Not only a musician, but a gifted artist, she was known and is remembered around the world. If you're not familiar with her, go to Amazon and listen to some of her music. Her voice is awesome.
The song that I will be playing is one of Eva's called, "Getting Out." Part of the words go like this:
"I'm gettin' out of this town,
I'm goin' far, far away,
I'm gettin' out of this town,
Not a thing can make me stay.
I said I'm leavin' here, baby,
So get out of my way."
Oh, yeah! That is me! I will be playing that, probably over and over, until I can't see KC in the rear view mirror.
Now, please understand that I don't hate KC. Not at all. It is just that I am so tired and so veryh, very ready to leave here and go "home" to NM. I just need to be away from this house, and all the memories connected with it. It is time for me to go . . . and I'm gettin' out!
Yeah. It is time.
These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................
Sometimes it's all about the place you are leaving and the place you are headed, all at the same time.
