These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

A Rough Day

Hi, all. I won't know for certain until tomorrow AM, but I suspect that I will be away for a few days. My sister, with whom I spent Thanksgiving, is in the hospital and is not doing well. She was intubated this evening. I'm waiting for morning to hear from my niece about how she is doing after intubation, but I'm almost certain that I will be going to be with my sis, my niece and my brother-in-law for the next few days. This will give relief to my niece who is trying to be with her mom, but also care for her dad who can no longer drive. Two bodies can be in two places, very important right now.

I may be able to blog some, but the time frame is uncertain. I'll be back when I can. May I think you in advance for prayers? Also a nephew is having serious health issues, so include him, too, please.

A last quick note: Blood work done on China Doll today says that her liver function is not normal. Without further testing, the vet's guess is Cushing's disease, a tumor on the adrenal grand or the pituitary gland. Further testing and treatment could be done, but I'm preliminarily deciding not to do that. The vet said the tests and treatment are rough, and at her age, might be worst than the disorder itself. He feels that it is likely she will live out her life much as she is now. I'm still considering, but I'd rather she have quality as long as possible, I think.

Tough day, all around. Better put me in those meditations, too. Thanks, all.

Oh, and keep the book titles coming. I'll need them later on.

I've arrived safely. Haven't been to the hospital yet, but talked with my niece. It sounds as if my sis is marginally better. She is receiving IV fluids, tube nourishment and is on a respirator. Her BP is more stable now (not completely, but imporved) and she tried to muster a smile a while ago. It seems the prayers are already helping. Thanks, all.

  1. This is one that I always find comforting when challenged by things beyond my control or influence:
"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference."
