These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Guard Frog and Butterfly Bouncer had a meeting, and they decided that having a few more protective energies around the house wouldn't hurt. This morning, they submitted a plan to me that sounds pretty solid. See what you think.

First addition recommended is Mariposa Blanca, Butterfly Bouncer's Mexican cousin. He comes highly recommended, especially in the area of scaring away the gloom. He uses bright colors, reflected in the sun to enhance and magnify the effects, and I think he will do just great in this arena.

Shhhh. I suspect he might be gay because he carries a rainbow with him, but that isn't an issue for me. He hasn't volunteered any information, and you know "don't ask, don't tell." He seems to be a good guy, and there is a translucency about him that makes me feel he isn't hiding anything. As long as he does his job I don't care, and perhaps, like me, he is just a big fan of rainbows. Either way, we're good.

Guard Frog has brought along his own relatives, also. His Native American cousin . . .

and two of his homies are going to stand guard over the earth and air of our home. For now, they are practicing by hanging out over Allan's fireplace. I haven't figured out exactly who the other two are. Another secret here . . . I THINK one is male and one female, but it is hard to say!! they look so much alike! There is a language barrier, so I haven't learned their names yet, and they always wear that ceremonial garb. I'll get to know more about them in a few days and let you know who they really are. I feel good about their presence. After all, they are using the cover of being sand paintings, so I feel they are certainly in touch with the elements and will recognize and thwart any attempt on the property they've pledged to protect. All three seem to be solid, not likely to be disturbed by the blowing winds that cause some sand to shift. They appear to be firm in their positions. At any rate, I think any relative of GF for whom he will vouch is good enough for me.

The final two members of the security team are Sun and Moon.

They are free agents, not related directly to any of the rest of the team, yet related to us all in the greatest of ways. Sun and Moon have vowed to provide me with round the clock presence and company. Sun will light my days, send sunshine into the corners of my world, making it easier for the rest of the team to identify any lurking danger, and even more importantly, use his energies to warm me, to scare away sadness, to strengthen my bones, to show me the beauties around me, to wake the birds and all the forest creatures to delight my eyes and ears, to melt the snows, dry the mud, and make the plants grow.

When Sun rests, Moon takes over. His job is to provide a soft light and assure that I can move around without injuring myself, while not making it so light that I'm kept awake awake. He will rest on the covers at the foot of my bed so I feel his presence and know I'm never alone. He promises to provide the light for Dreamcatcher to be able to discern the difference between the good and bad dreams, so I can dream the sweet dreams all night long. The team have not met Dreamcatcher yet, as she had to be placed in storage for a while, but they all understand that she is understood to be the longest standing team member, and while she is quiet and retired, she had been my protector for many years.

There is one other new team member. The others actually treat him like a mascot, and I haven't figured out his exact job, so I'm not sure. He is small and I don't know how he could be of much protection, but I love him anyway. Perhaps his task is simply to provide me with delight, and that he does! He reminds me of Louie, the handsome Cardinal that shared his life between my yard and that of Caroline and Laura in KC. Perhaps that is all he needs to do.

OK, I'm ready!

  1. Looks like your family is now complete. I was just thinking about Louie this morning. What a funny bird. I wonder if he will come back in the spring?

I simply can't wait to see all your new friends in your new house.

  2. Just make sure you feed them all well, so they don't go on strike (I'm sure they will flourish on a helping of the aura of love and air of caring that surrounds you).

s3 - You know, so far they haven't even asked to be fed! As to the "aura of love and air of caring," read the following comment from your youngest cousin who obviously thinks I don't love and care!!!!

anonTERRIomoLYNNEus - SHEESH!!!!!!! I haven't seen any ladybug stuff hanging around the area! But when I do, I'll invite them in. Hmm. I don't think the Native americans have ladybug fetishes or kachinas. I could be in trouble here. sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I had fun with that. I'm considering teaching an informal class on creative writing. Think I have what it takes? ;-)
