These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

No Videos

I've been trying to post videos ever since I finished the previous post. No luck. Blogger seems to be saying to me that I should forget it, so I think I will.

I am just about completely devoid of energy today. Yesterday's trip was a bit long, but I had a delightful long break for lunch and visiting with my brother at the halfway mark. Actually it wasn't a long trip, only about six hours of driving, but the nearly three hour break in the middle made it a long day. Anyway, i slept late this morning, then I just felt as if I had no energy, so I've laid around reading most of the day ... and snoozing, if you must know!

I'm actually thinking that the decline in altitude has probably caught up with me. Remember that my home is something around 7000 feet above sea level and even when I come "down from the mountain," most of my life is spent 6300+. My first night away from home on this trip was spent near Lubbock at an elevation of 3290 feet. Then I spent 3 days at 689 near Dallas. The official elevation here in Wichita is 1321. I think I'm just sluggish from my fifth day closer to the center of the earth than I'm used to. And it occurs to me that I will have to readjust when I return home! I'll have several energyless days when I get home in December. HEY! I didn't bargain for this!!

OK, I feel another ten minute nap coming on. Bye for nowwwwwwww. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  1. Hey, you're on vacation...if you want to nap all day long then do so.

Enjoy your time with the family.

  2. I get sluggish in high altitude - so you mile-highers get sluggish when you come down? I did't know that!

  3. Lynilu, makes sense with the altitude change. Caroline said it well -

  5. Caroline - LOL! I had no choice! I just kept dropping off all day long! Now it is 8:42 and I'm ready for be That is even stranger when you consider it is 7:42 at the schedule I am most used to!! Hmm. With the time change junk last weekend, it is 8:42 on my internal clock, right? Blech! Who knows???

Sandra - During my lifetime I've gone back and forth between high and low altitude, and yes, it goes both ways. I think it is worse when you go from low to high, although today would seem to dispel that. I'm not sure.

Annie - Thanks! I'm having a very good time regardless of the drowsiness!

Daisy - Thanks, I absolutely will!

  7. Sometimes not being able to do what we usually do is a good thing...life just taking over. Videos will wait..there are more days coming to post those.

Yesterday was a long day, and the sluggishness? True, altitude is going to affect you but so is stress...built up stress you are holding in that you probably don't realize you are. Body then says "Lynilu, for crying out loud, we're calling it a day and so are you"...enjoy the snoozing and the reading and the loafing. It's a vacation. But I'm glad you like to check in and talk with us...it's good to take your friends on a trip with you and you know you're still connected!!

  8. Bradley - No, I'm not talking about altitude sickness. But once a person is acclimated to a high altitude, coming to a lower one can prove a significant adjustment. The atmospheric pressure is far greater at a lower altitude. Any change from "normal" will require adjustment, and as the body attempts to correct the imbalance, or to reach/establish a new homeostasis, it well may struggle. I've always had adjustment problems moving from low to high *OR* high to low. Add the stress of driving, and there I am!

Sherry - Yes, I think there is a combination of travel stress, "being a guest" stress, happy stress with seeing loved ones, change of schedule stress, etc., all adds up. My trip plan was inadvertently scheduled with a longer stay here, then several days of travel hops with short stays, then another longer stop in Florida before I head home. I'll be able to recoup at intervals. I didn't really plan it that way, but it did work out nicely!

  12. We are stuck in El Paso.

I am at my all time low. I am dressed in flannel (green squares blue background) PJ bottoms, with a green moosehead night shirt, complimented with an orange fleece shirt. Dare I say it is over 10 years old?

Your pictures brought me hope that there is a world out there that doesn't charge 49 dollars a minute, and that car repairs will be under 1,000 dollars.

Unfortunately my car repairs is exceeding that limit. Brakes shot, tires shot (back ones). The front tires were replaced on I-10.

We are going to Las Cruces to have the braking system checked, and parts replaced. I just haven't figured how I am going to do it yet because mom can't drive. I am considering driving the RV, renting a car to drive back to El Paso.

Right now I am trying to take it one step at a time. First step is to get the car out of the shop.

OH GOD I am emoting. Sorry. I do feel better after the pictures and emoting. Thanks. I am definitely heading for the park you describe in pictures, it looks like a restful place.

  13. Oh, Pepper! What a rotten situation you're in! Sorry to hear that. I'll keep you in my "happiest thoughts" over the next few days, and I'm hooping that you'll be able to make it to the Reserve. It will restore your soul.

Email me. I might be able to find someone to help you transport the car/RV.

If you have something to say about it, just stick out your thumb, and I'll slow down so you can hop aboard! But hang on, 'cause I'm movin' on down the road!!! No time to waste!!!
