These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Syncin' Up!

Being sick apparently totally messed up my internal clock. I'm having trouble getting back into a normal sleep pattern, as my body seems to be saying, "Nah, let's stay awake until 3:00 o'clock!" I gave up last night and took something to help me get to sleep earlier, and I rested really well, getting almost nine hours of sleep last night. All in a row! I feel so much better today.

However, there is still some out-of-cycle residue in there, I think. I'm having trouble convincing myself that today is Friday. My head keeps wanting it to be Saturday. I've said, "No, Head, it is only Friday. Think of Friday activities," but the next few minutes, I'm back to thinking about Saturday in terms of my list of to-dos!!

It is interesting how your whole being responds to illness. In the past, when I was working, I wouldn't have noticed this, I suspect. I would have simply gone back to work around Wednesday and by now I would not even be aware of the dissonance or perhaps being in such a routine would actually help the body to adjust more quickly. But being at home most of the time as I am now, I guess I'm more aware of the subtle messages I'm getting.

I'm still a little bit weak physically. It's not bad, but I notice that I feel tired more often or more quickly than I think I should. I'm acutely aware of it because I'm trying to be careful and not over-do. I've heard or talked to several who have had flu recently and have gone back to work and relapsed. I certainly do not want another round of that stuff! So I'm writing this post on one of my "breaks."

I recently asked for recommendations of books to read, and I didn't thank any of you for your responses. I did take note of them, putting every title you left in the comments on my list. Sherry asked what I like to read, and I didn't answer that specifically because I didn't want the list limited in any way. I like almost anything. I'm very interested in history and biographies, but if I'm not careful I get into a rut. I like that what y'all referenced seem to be a variety. Thanks very much to all of you!!

I just joined Blockbusters online video rental. I chose it over Netflicks based on some of the benefits that seemed to fit my needs better. If I don't like it, I can change. I've picked a whole list of titles already and have received the first three. I think Gail and I may have a movie marathon this weekend! I'm not telling you what I got, because I'm asking now about movies as I did about books a few posts ago. What have you seen recently that you recommend. Even if it isn't out on the rentals yet, let me know what you've seen and liked. I'll put it on the list and get it when it is available.

That's it! My break is over. The boss is yelling at me to get back to work, so I'd better scoot before I get fired!!

  1. Hmmm as far as movies go I haven't saw alot of contemporary movies (ecept for 30 Days Of Night which scared the CRAP out of me if you'll remember).

Shawshank Redemption is one of my all time favorites.

  2. Patti, yes, I remember that, and that kind of movie is at the bottom of my list. I don't like being scared. I'm a wuss in that way, I guess.

Shawshank Redemption in on my looooong list at the site!

  4. Hi Lynilu - I.m off to Florida in the morning, but wanted to tell you to keep well while I'm gone. I recently saw THE BUCKET LIST and recommend it. Great actors and great story as well. (Shawshank was one of my favourites too, saw it at least 4 times) I also liked Remember the Titans because the music was excellent besides a good story based on actual fact. I like anything with Denzil in it., and Music of the Heart with Meryl Streep is another good one.

    Take care.

  5. Well, fiddlesticks! I wrote a response earlier, and it disappeared!

MLM, that's a good list. I have several in my own library already, and I've added the others to my list. Thanks!

Ruthie, I want to see The Bucket List, too, and those others are good recs. Great actors in all of them.

Travel carefully, and have a great time in FL!! Vaya con dios, amiga!!

  6. Blockbuster works best for me too, and it's nice to be able to drive a few miles to get a new movie if I don't want to wait for the mail.
I loved Shawshank too. Get busy livin' or get busy dyin. Words to live by.
I loved "Catch and Release" with Jennifer Garner. Sucker for the love stories.
    Heartburn, with Meryl Streep.

  7. Redfrog27, thanks, it's on my list now. I can do sad, but I'm glad to know ahead of time. It's good to have a friend present when that's the case. I watched The Pianist alone, and I was so overwhelmed that I had to stop it several times, taking time out to breathe.

Julie, yeah, the major reason for my choice of BB.

I'm with you on love stories! I have Catch and Release, and it's always good for a Saturday afternoon watch! and Heartburn is on my list now, thanks!

  8. I am glad you are feeling better.

Here are some movies I recommened:
Evening, Georgia Rule, Reign Over Me and The Family Stone.

Georgia Rule stars Lindsay Lohan (who I hate),but it actually is a very good movie.

  9. I'm so glad you're doing so much better. But please, by all means, take it easy so you don't relapse!

Enjoy the books and the movies! I'm anxious to hear what you read/saw!

  10. Oh, and I forgot one of my favorites: Cast Away. You know, the one with a charactor named Wilson.

  11. I don't remember if I responded to your requests on books, but I highly recommend Janet Evanovich's number series. Light and very funny. I'm always laughing out loud when I read these. In fact, that's how I got into them, asking someone what they were reading when they were laughing while reading. And, Frank Perritti's This Present Darkness. It's one of my all time fav's.

  13. Caroline, good movie recs. I own or have seen a couple, but good enough to watch again.

And yes, I'm fine. I've just been really busy. I felt a need to give my house a good deep cleaning, and I've almost finished. I have only the office left, and today I hope to get it straightened enough to work in there, then clean it well. That will free me up to get some of the photography actually done (!!), start doing yard work when weather is nice (gonna be 60+ today, and I'd love to be outside!!), and most important, just do general upkeep cleaning instead of sorting/organizing/leftover-from-moving tasks.

    But thanks for asking!!

Jenster, I'm pacing myself, even though I'm doing a lot of physical work, frequent rest breaks, lots of water and nourishment, and I'm sleeping better now!

I'll update on the movies/books soon!

Kathi, I don't think you did, but those books are on my list now! Thanks!

If you have something to say about it, just stick out your thumb, and I'll slow down so you can hop aboard! But hang on, 'cause I'm movin' on down the road!!! No time to waste!!!
