These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Quick Update

We meet tomorrow morning, Wednesday, at 10:00. I'll let ya know. Today, my head is in a much better place, yet I can't really relax until I know what the facts are. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Dis ain't fun. :(

UPDATE at 11:15 AM, 2/13:

Not a done deal yet, but a probable compromise is on the table. Here's the deal:

Think of a row of dominoes. Those dominoes represent several surveys done over the years since the 1970s. One got off its mark and pushed the others in the same direction.

Now think of another row of dominoes. These represent the properties that line up behind my house. When the survey that set the whole debacle in motion occurred, the surveyor started going through and marking the boundaries of the lots in the subdivision. When he got to my place, the last one in the line (actually around a curve, similar to a cul de sac, which may have been the basic problem), he came up short. Rather than remeasure and correct, he simply left the lines previously measured and didn't change the measurements on paper for my property. In other words, my property, the last domino, was just shoved a few feet to the east. No problem except ... EXCEPT ... the few feet he allowed the "domino" to be shoved was right into the road!! My "property" actually pushes into the road on my east and on my north!! Without a lawsuit against the county, which would take years and beaucoup money, I can't reclaim that.

The property line in back of me, to the west, in the one in dispute. The proposal is that the pie wedge of land be split between myself and the current owner. If she agrees, it will be a quickly done deal. Offsetting quit claim deeds would set a new property line.

It isn't ideal, but certainly better than losing it all or having to go to court to establish who owns what, and the assessor wasn't encouraging about my winning. It would reset property lines over about 20 lots of 1/2 acre to 1 acre each, and it would be a legal nightmare, probabaly resulting in lawsuits from other property owners and dragging out for decades. I just want to live here with approximately what I thought I bought!

Haven't heard back from the other side, of course, because the realtor has to call the current owner for approval, and we just finished discussing it all minutes ago. If she agrees, the paperwork will begin, and she will be able to transfer the property to her potential buyer. Everyone will be just happier than stink. Except me. I won't know until the new filing is done and mailed to me, but I'm guessing that my 3/4 acre just dropped to about 1/2 acre, most of it lost to the county road. ($#&%#(&. That's all I can say!! Oh, well, such is life, you win a few and lose a few, and in the end .... we all die anyway! No sense sweating the small stuff! If I can just have a clean title to the property, I promise not to complain anymore!!

Later, guys! And, yes ..........

...Life is beautiful!!!

  4. Daisy, I'll letcha know!

Caroline, I actually do, also, but I feel so blasted helpless. I know, life is beautiful, but I could use fewer reminders that it isn't perfect!!

Patti, the logical side of my brain knows that, but the emotional side is still hiccuping!

Thank everyone for the support. I can't tell you how much it means.

  7. Pepper, I'll make it. No, it's not fun, but it's not the end of the world, either. Thanks!
