These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

The Bench

Isn't it purtty??? The mountains in the background are the Carizzos to my north.

This is the other end of the deck. Uh, I know, it needs more organization. I'm gettin' there! The big black thing beyond the exerciser is the BBQ grill. All the trunks will be painted in the same colors as the bench by fall. Colorful and fun!

I also have to refinish the deck before winter to protect it. OK. Now I'm tired, just thinking about it all. sighhhh.

  4. This looks like an AWESOME place to hang out in the evenings. And the mornings!

I've been thinking of you! Wondering how the fires have affected your area if at all... Hope all is well.

  5. Caroline, can you believe it? Really different than the last time you saw it, huh?? And as to when .... any time you want to come, dear heart!! Just talk to your boss about time off! :D

Casey, I love the porch. It is one thing that sold me on this place, and along with that is the view from the deck, too! Most of the pictures of the sunrises and sunsets have been taken from that deck! Thanks!

MJ, oh, yeah, the seating is the pièce de résistance. There are actually additional seats that aren't set up yet. Gotta get that other end finished up!!

Catherine, oh, it is perfect for hanging out .... any time! I've spent a lot of happy times there in this year!

The fires ... sighhh. We are OK. (knock on wood) They have all been far enough away that we don't have a problem here. But the Trigo, near Alb is getting scary (see my newer post). Well, actually it is scary for us, too, simply because we are only an ember away from any one of those other fires. :(

  8. PS. Have you seen Miss Kitty or Jack lately??

  9. Annie, thanks, and believe me, I sat on it as soon as it was in place!

Daisy, thank you! Yes, I'm doing it myself unless I find I just can't handle it. I plan to do it rather slowly, over time and just a section at a time. The good/bad part is that the paint is coming up like crazy because the previous owner used indoor latex just to make it look nice for selling. What a doofus! But it will make it easier for me when I begin sanding.

Miss Kitty make regular daily visits. I have not seen the handsome Jack since about 2 weeks after my short trip to the Midwest. He came around for a while, but I'm not afraid that he may have met with some sort of problem. :'( I miss him greatly. Miss Kitty is very friendly and loves to be petted, but is also skittish as heck! I have to sit very still, moving just my hands to pet her. If I stand or mover around at all, she flies down the deck! We're working on her being able to trust me better. :)
