These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Pretty Kitty

See this face? Isn't it a beauty??

I went outside shortly after I posted the earlier note, and my newest best buddy was waiting. she scampered down the deck as she usually does when I go out, but she came back when I called her. I filled the bowl, slipped inside for the camera, and got some great close-ups!

She ate off and on, coming to me for petting frequently. She was extremely friendly today, but she still jumps and tears away when I move, even slowly.

Sometimes she didn't take time to get up on the trunk. She would get a couple bites while stretching like this, and come back to me for more petting!

She stuck her face right in the camera on this shot! I wasn't prepared, so it's a little blurry.

I stayed on the deck for around twenty minutes, and she meowed, rubbed on my legs, begged me to pet her, and ate. I feel so much better, knowing she is eating well. She is still very spooky, and she runs away if I move to quickly (or even if I move slowly, most times), so I can tell that she isn't fully trusting, but she lets me feel her tummy, her ribs, and I even managed to check a paw for claws. Yes, she has claws, thank goodness.

I shot a video of her, too, but Blogger won't let me upload it. :( I've been trying all day long with zero success. Now it won't let me cancel it, so who knows what will show up here later! Grrrrr. I'll work on that for later/another day.

  1. She is soo pretty. I love her face. I am so glad she is being friendly with you and allowing you to pet her.

So are we going to have another contest to name her?

  2. This is so cool, I love an animal lover.
I've fed so many strays over the years, some still come around occasionally, and some I just wonder what happened to them. One thing I know, there was always food here when they were hungry.

  3. Caroline, isn't she petty? I love that she is beginning to trust me.

    NO!!!!!!!

    :D

Kathi, it doesn't take much to provide for a little stray, and your heart just feels better for it, doesn't it? Especially out here where they are at such risk. I just want to give them a chance to make it.

  4. She looks a little like one of my "food visitors". This cat is not a stray I think she just likes our brand of cat food better. I love little kitty faces!

  7. Patti, I've wondered about the not-stray status, but I don't care either way. As long as she has enough to eat.

    Caroline, Yeah, well.....

Sherry, that's OK, I've been called a lot worse than that!! LOL!!!

  9. Oh, I'm so glad she has her claws!! Nothing is sadder than a stray cat with no claws. You're so lovely for looking out for her.

  11. Redfrog27, what a cool neighborhood cooperation! YAY!!

Catherine, I know, I was worried that she might be a former house pet that someone lost or dumped. I was relieved. And how could I NOT watch out for her? Her lot in life isn't her doing. Thanks, though, for cheering me on!

Walker, she is nice looking, isn't she? Yeah, now that she is coming to me when I call, I feel hopeful for even better in the future. :)

  14. She's beautiful.

I am glad you help take care of all these little ones!! There should be more like you.

We have a cat outside that looks suspiciously similar to Oreo, and we always go searing for oreo when we see it cause they look so much alike.

  15. Beans, I could not live with myself if I didn't take care of them.

I'm chuckling at the oreo look-alike making you panic! I had a similar situation years ago, and it drove me crazy!

If you have something to say about it, just stick out your thumb, and I'll slow down so you can hop aboard! But hang on, 'cause I'm movin' on down the road!!! No time to waste!!!
