These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

MIA

OK, I guess an explanation is in order, as Ms. Caroline points out.

Today, Monday, turned into a busier day than I anticipated, and time just got away from me. I did read a few comments and replied to them early on, but then the folks showed up to work on my deck cover. Somehow, the deck cover or roof was not connected well to the house, and when it rains or snow is melting, the water backs up under the overhang and runs down on the deck. I had someone who was supposed to fix it a year ago, but he flaked out on me. I was considering doing it myself, but I didn't know if I could handle it. I'm glad I didn't try, because my workers, a husband/wife team worked together for three hours getting it done! And they really worked for those three hours. They put a metal sheet under the overhang, caulked everything and screwed it into place. I'm hoping this will take care of the problem.

It was a cool morning, and I decided to do some outside work myself. I spent that time and a couple hours more sawing up tree limbs to a length required for the County to pick them up. I have three stacks almost my height and beginning the fourth. I also did a minor gutter repair, then I took down a section of fence about 50 to 70 feet long. There was an area that was fenced and used as a corral by the previous owner. I'm leaving part of it in place around the front of the property, but wanted the section closest to the house gone. And now it is! The wire fencing is rolled up and waiting for me to decide what to do with it. I still have to remove the posts, but that's for another day. I noticed that I have some repairs on the remaining fence as apparently deer jumping over it have scrunched it and some of the fasteners are loose or missing. That, too is for another day.

Suddenly, it was nearly 4:00, and I realized that I didn't have time to do any more. We had a potluck tonight, and I had to fix my dishes, shower and get ready to leave the house by 6:00. Oops!! So I rushed around and got the food done, popped one in the oven and myself in the shower. I made it out of here just a few minutes late, and fortunately several others were late, too.

I was so busy I forgot about pictures. :( Not only that, but I went to the dinner without tossing my camera in the car. On the way home, I was tooling down the road, and suddenly, there was a huge elk was standing on the edge of the road! As I went past, doing just 20 or 25, I got a good look, even in the dark, as he was only perhaps five or six feet from me! He was gorgeous! His rack was so high that I believe it was above the top of my truck, probably about a foot taller!!

On the drive home I also saw several deer, including the two young bucks who hang out near my house. It looks as if their horns are about four inches long now. Also saw several rabbits and a skunk walked into the road ahead of me! I was glad that he wasn't showing any interest in me. He just waddled to the other side of the road, then disappeared into the ditch. The critters were certainly a-prowl tonight!!

Tomorrow I will be back to normal. Maybe! No promises, but I'll do my best!! Bye, y'all!!

  1. There is something very peaceful about a day that just gets away from you, when you are so involved in what you are doing that time has moved without our realizing it. I look forward to days like that!

  2. I love a day that "gets away from me". Oh Lynilu I want to come visit you and see your beautiful part of the country so bad. Why can't I hit that pesky lottery and then do a continental meet-my-blogfriends tour???!!!

  3. Sherry, well, yesterday was not necessarily "peaceful," (LOL!) but it was a good day and much was accomplished. In that respect, very calming, knowing one (or two or six) less things to do! I actually do like those days, too, but "peaceful," when working as hard as I was, just made me laugh! :D

MQ, my dear, you just keep playing that lotter, 'cause I'd love to have you come visit! Hey, maybe I'll even plan a day like yesterday to make you feel at home!! LOL!! ;D

If you have something to say about it, just stick out your thumb, and I'll slow down so you can hop aboard! But hang on, 'cause I'm movin' on down the road!!! No time to waste!!!
