These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Better By Degrees

I'm feeling a bit better today. I took my old stand-by, Nyquil, last night at bedtime, and it helped me decongest and sleep, all at once.

Yesterday afternoon I was at that gawd-awful stage where I couldn't keep my eyes open, yet every time I dropped off, I'd only doze for a few minutes (or even seconds) and wake up. I couldn't stay awake OR asleep!! So I was tired and needed that Nyquil-induced slumber.

This morning, I'm very hungry. I've eaten enough soup to drown an elephant over the last couple days. Oh, OK, perhaps it would drown only a mouse, but still ......! I haven't felt like cooking, and we all know the benefits of chicken soup on a cold. But now, my tummy says, "Solid food, please!!!" I'm going to start the day with some oatmeal and sausage in a few minutes.

I'm still stuffed up and slightly "snotting," but soooo much improved. As you can see from the post I put up earlier this morning, my sense of humor and thought processes are definitely back. I'm going to live! LOL!

Giggle! There was a commercial on TV just now where a little girl says, "I'm a princess and princesses don't get sick." Well, that bursts my bubble! I'm clearly not a princess!!

As I'm preparing to make my trip to OK for my niece's wedding and to bring home Joey's little darlin', I am absolutely thrilled to see gas prices dropping! They have dropped at least 20¢ per gallon here, and I hope it will fall more in the next ten days. Also, our prices tend to be higher than the general prices, so I can look forward to less financial stress with the trip. Whew. Yesterday I saw $3.95 when I went to get medication, and that is much better than what we've had for the last month or more. And I usually find the prices lower as I move toward the Midwest. What are gas prices in your area?

When I made my hotel reservation the young woman issued a disclaimer. She said she has been cautioning people that the temps in the Tulsa area have been over 100° for more than a week, and although I'm not going to be there for a while, she wanted me to be prepared, just in case. Yeah, I've been watching the temperatures on the news and on the internet. It looks like it is breaking now, and hopefully will be more normal whan I get there. Of course, "normal" in Tulsa in August is not good, anyway! I believe OK has higher and/or more oppressive humidity than KC does, generally speaking, and I left KC with ZERO regrets where weather is concerned!! No, I'm not looking forward to the time I am spending in OK. Well, I do look forward to seeing my family, but that's where it ends.

When I get back from that trip I will be getting ready for a house guest for a few days at the end of the month. My friend who is the huge fan of the New Christy Mistrels is coming again for one of their concerts. He is coming from .... the Tulsa area (LOL!), and we are going to see a couple of their shows. Well, actually one show of the NCMs and one of Dolan Ellis, one of the group members who is my favorite. He is also the Official Balladeer for the State of Arizona, and he writes and performs wonderful music about the Southwest. I'm looking forward to seeing Joe again. I enjoy his company.

It looks like my fall is going to be very busy. I have several guests planning to visit in the fall months, and I'm looking forward to all of them. I also have some other events that are going to be taking place that I will share as they happen. It looks to be a fun transition period as we move toward winter. And I'm hoping for more snow this year than we had during last winter.

OK, I gotta go fill my tummy. It is absolutely screaming at me now!!

PS - Ruth in Canada read this post and laughed at my with for lots of snow so she sent me pictures to remind me to be careful what I wish for .... I might get it! Pix from her place last winter!!

  1. Glad you are feeling better. Be sure to take it easy for a couple more days...remember you may feel better, but your body still needs a couple of days to be back 100%.

Am I weird because when I look at those pictures from Ruth and all I can say is "awwwww". To me, all that song is paradise.

  10. MQ, thanks, and yes, guests are worth looking forward to.

IE, thanks. The prices had better continue to go down. The recent months have just been awful, and for no reason that I'm willing to accept. I'm tired of my life being controlled by gas prices, and I know you are, too.

Kathi, glad you're back! And thanks, I'm way far better!
