For those of you who are still lamenting the end of summer:
This one reminded me of a time some 40 years ago when my niece found a cocoon and was fascinated with the it. She was probably around 8 at the time, and a very curious child. Unbeknownst to her parents, she brought it inside, tucked it away in a dresser drawer, and I'm guessing she forgot about it.
Some time later, my sister-in-law was putting away clothes after laundering them. When she opened that drawer, dozens of baby praying mantis' scurried everywhere! My SIL was terrified of bugs, any kind of bugs, and of course she freaked! I'm guessing she would have loved it if Kelly had glued her drawer shut!!
Have a Terrific Tuesday!!
These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................
I'm not afraid of praying mantis' but that would have given me a pause LOL
ReplyDeleteQueenie, indeed it would! Knowing my SIL, it was probably a very ugly scene!! She's not fond of much of anything but humans!
ReplyDeleteI had to get used to finding bugs in the house and frogs and toads. You are thinking yeah cause you have a son but nope it was the girl forever bringing critters in.Hmmmmm wonder if that is why we have 2 dogs and 7 cats.
ReplyDeleteOMg...that would have freaked me out. I had a nightmare one time when I was maybe 12 with praying mantises running amok. I have been afraid of them ever since!
ReplyDeleteLove the cartoons!
Redfrog, I was the bring-home-every-creature kid in my family, too. But in your case, I don't think we can blame only the girl for all those critters in your house! I think that is a family activity!!
ReplyDeleteYou may have a point!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCheryl, my SIL was a mess over that, I assure you. Isn't it odd how childhood dreams stick with you and influence your whole life?
ReplyDeleteRed, LOL!!
Remind me to tell you the story of porcupine eggs.
ReplyDeleteMJ, oh, that sounds good! OK, I will. Hey, my email is: lynilu@yahoo.com.
