These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Shopping Excursion

Wow. Have you read Chapter #11 of The Privilege of Voting? I didn't know all that about Isadora Duncan. I knew she led a scandalous life and about how she died, but I really knew nothing else. After reading each of these, I've been googling each woman's name and reading more about her. And after every one of them, I am awed. And I can hardly wait to see how she fits in with The Privilege. I hope you are all enjoying these stories. I am, but I tend to be a history buff and love almost anything that tells me about how we got where we are today, so I'm biased.

I'm feeling better today. I'm still a bit stuffed up, but much better than I was yesterday. That makes me feel it was probably allergies rather than a cold. That's good .... it means I don't have a week ahead of healing. I took medication at bedtime and slept like a rock, another nine hours. I usually sleep between seen and eight hours, so I don't think I'm lacking rest, but the extra sleep certainly hasn't hurt me.

I made my trip to Lowe's today, and came back with everything I needed. I was surprised that I found shelves that worked for every place that I've thought of needing some. I just knew I wouldn't be able to find one or two. So I spent more than I planned, but I'm glad to have them. I want to get my organization done before it gets cold. Part of the organization is in the well house, and while it is heated, it is not going to be pleasant standing on cold concrete while working. I want to work on that in the next few days. The portion in the house can be done when the outside is awful.

I also got lumber and supplies for a project a friend is helping me with. Whoever built the well house did a weird job. It looks nice, but there are some shortcuts that have lead to some wood rot. It can be fixed, but it is going to take a couple hours to repair. Then I can paint it. The same friend is coming over tomorrow and we are putting in the dog doors, back and front. I'm so glad his wife "loans him out"! But she's my friend, too, and she doesn't have to worry. He's way too young, younger than my son. He is a very sweet man, and he loves doing things for people. I've reached the point of needing some assistance on a few jobs, so thank goodness for him!

On the way down to Alamogrodo, I stopped at my favorite antique/collectible store, The Dusty Peddler in Tularosa. He has really quality stuff, not junk. I was looking for small tables to paint/refinish, and I didn't find any. I did find this ..................
I will paint the wood a different color, probably one or two of the colors in the fabric. The little casters are wonderful! I've been resting my feet on the coffee table, but it is hard and hurts my widdle heels! They feel so comfortable on this little stool.

I found a sofa table that I want, but I'm not sure it makes sense to get it right now. I have a drop leaf table behind the couch, and I want to keep it for overflow guests. I have no where to store it if I get the sofa table. Buuuuut .... the sofa table is so pretty! I will think on it and go back if I decide to get it.

And I went to Penney's while I was in Alamogordo. When I got out my sweaters yesterday, I realized that I really, really needed some new ones. So I thought I'd get 2 or 4 new ones and a couple pairs of jeans. I forgot they were having their 88¢ sale, you know, buy one and get the second for 88¢. Wanna guess what I came home with?
  • 4 really nice sweaters
  • 2 zippered sweaters with hoods
  • 4 thermal hooded shirts
  • 3 jeans (one wasn't on the 88¢ deal but was 50% off)
And it all cost me less than $200! Can't beat that! It is certainly better than the sweaters at $80-$100 each I was looking at recently and knowing I couldn't afford that. I'm set for winter, for sure.

Now, for your viewing pleasure......

Life is beautiful!!!!

I love those Privilege of Voting emails. I'm going to print them all and put them in a binder and then I'm going to make my daughter read them. It's important stuff to know. Thanks for bringing them to our attention!

  6. Jenster, me, too! Good sales finds are like a major drug, aren't they???

Funny you say that about printing those pages out. I was actually considering doing the same, just for me.

Have you read "Lies My Teacher Told Me"? If not, it is a good book and will knock your socks off. The suffragettes should have been mentioned in the book. I had no idea, and I'm guessing most people didn't, about everything those women went through. History books don't tell how they were treated, the raw cruelty that was directed at them. What brave women!

  7. I've heard of the book, but I haven't read it. I'm putting it on my list. I adore history now and I often wonder if some of the stuff I've learned over the years wasn't taught in school or if I just slept through it since I wasn't so interested back then.

  8. Jen, when you read the book, you'll understand why you "missed" so much. No, you weren't sleeping through it.
