These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. Today is Veteran's Day

Do you know that Veteran's Day is honored in many countries around the globe?That's right, it is not an American holiday, but some folks don't know that. It is called Remembrance Day or Armistice Day in other places. My grandparents called it Armistice Day.

Fly your flags today and remember those who made it possible for us to do so.

    I seem to vaguely recall my mother calling it Armistice Day, and definitely my grandmother did...those women understood the significance of the day in a way that I'm rarely reminded of these days. Thank you for the rare reminder.

    I'm glad you enjoyed this tribute by Terry Kelly, a Canadian singer. I get choked up every time I watch this. My father was with the Canadian Army and was in Holland during the invsion. Here in Canada we call it Remberance Day and is honoured by wearing the Red Poppy.

    Betty, our ancestors are certainly aware. I hope we will always remember to honor these folks, regardless of what we call the day. :)

    Ruth, I did, and I hope you went over to Nick's blog, too. Very touching. I didn't go into town today, but almost every year I make sure to get a poppy and support the veterans' organizations.

    Queenie, I know a lot of veterans, too. I'm really glad we honor them. :)
