The Barack Obama Irish Song
Moneygall is a small village in County Offaly, Ireland. It has a population of approximately 300 people, has a Roman Catholic Church, five shops, a post office, a national school, a police station and two pubs.
President-elect of the United States Barack Obama's great-great-great grandfather, Falmouth Kearney, emigrated from Moneygall to New York City at the age of 19 in 1850 and eventually resettled in Tipton County, Indiana. Kearney's father had been the village shoemaker, then a wealthy skilled trade.
And now for the SONG ... Crank up your speakers!!!
These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................
Thanks Lyn, I had to play it again for maybe the 3rd time. Its such a fun song and the pics of the President elect are wonderful....love the ones of him dancing. Bus loads of people from Ottawa headed to DC for the festivities. All wanting to take part in the change of history in the USA. Watched Canada AM this morning with broadcast from the roof of the Canadian Embassy...such excitement!!!!!
ReplyDeleteRuth, it really is fun, isn't it? The Irish 1/4 of me enjoyed it a great deal! LOL!
ReplyDeleteFrom what I'm reading in world news, mostly from England but canvassing the public around the world, it sounds as if this man is highly favored and is giving hope. Of course, I agree with that view, and I'm looking forward with excitement toward tomorrow and the next few years.
