These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Miscellaneous, Random, Odd 'n' Ends, Whatever

Some random funnies that are cluttering my desktop.

First of all, for those of you who are/have been/will be battling the winter sniffles, a bit of gross humor.

And for Caroline, whose life seems to offer up "little surprises" at times!

Thoughts about living with teenage boys .....

And this is so like my granddaughter, isn't it, TL??

~ ~ ~ ~

A note about the puppy adjustment at my house. It's still going well. Jazi, who was the least excited about the new family member, is coming around. She and Lolita have had several chases around the house in the last 24 hours. She still curls her lip a give a small grrrrr sometimes when the New Kid some around, but it seems to be easing. Jealous little twit! How can we have a successful girls' night and sleep over if they are snippy toward each other?? I'm really glad they are playing together. Bodes well for a potential peace in the house!

The other one who has been a bit standoffish is Joey. He hasn't growled at her, but he has thoroughly ignored her, for the most part. With him, I think he is just the more sedate member of the pack, the one I often describe as the "Elder Statesman." I think Lolita is just a bit more energetic that he would prefer for the most part. But this morning, he was following her around and bouncing a bit to entice her into play. Another good sign. I'm sure it will take a little more time for things to even out in their relationships.

It will help when Lolita is finished being in heat. The boys are doing fairly well, ignoring it more with each day. After talking with my vet, I've decided to wait to have her spayed till she is clear. If the girl is in estrus there is a greater tendency for excessive bleeding and a need to watch her more closely to be sure she doesn't have complications. I've been assured that it is a small added concern, but I'm not wanting to put her there. I don't want to take that risk. It's an inconvenience to watch her this closely and clean up spots behind her, but not as important as her safety.

I'm outta here! Have a good day!

  1. Congratulations on the new addition. I had to catch up on my reading so I am late, but better late than never.
I'm glad others are adjusting well to the "New Kid".

  2. Kim, thank you! We're loving her! As I write this, all 5 are on the floor, wrestling, biting tail fur and dragging each other around, chasing around the coffee table, etc. it is hilarious and fun to watch!

  3. I'm sure there's damage that can be done but there still something quite comical to me about a little bitty dog curling up their lip. Ok, lil' Cujo!

  4. Sandra, since they are all about the same size, it actually could be a problem, but thus far it is mostly "bark" not "bite." The image of a sassy little 10 pounder curling her lip is comical, isn't it?? LOL!

  6. The Child and I have both been bitten by our sassy 10 pounder! Mr. Sass definitely has a mean streak which was evident from day one. I think you're safe if nothing has happened yet.

Our last Chihuahua, a 5 pounder, never would have bitten, so I had no fear of the breed! Mr. Sass is not totally Chihuahua, and we can't tell what else is there- pit bull, maybe.

    Hugs,
    Betty

  7. Betty, Chis can be cranky. I had 2 that were amazingly docile, but I've known others that were less even tempered. I think that is true of most breeds, however, in that some will be good tempered and others not so much.

I'm actually not worried about these guys much. They have a little set-to here and there, when they growl and spar around for the alpha position. Everything I've read says that this is "normal." If I could do some obedience classes, it might help, but there are none available around here. I maintain the true alpha position, reminding them when necessary, and otherwise let them "discuss" it amongst themselves! It will be fine!

  8. Lyn you are so diplomatic - lol@ letting them "discuss" it

Grandkids were here last night and I showed them some of the "family photos" - they loved them and they loved the video of them out in the snow. They were wishing Bella was closer so they could have a play day LOL (me too)

  9. Ruth, is that being PC to a fault??? ;D

That would be fun, wouldn't it? Mmy friend, Linda, has a 1 yo Cocker Spaniel that is very hyper, and we are planing a play date with her after Lolita gets settled in here. THAT ought to be a riot!

  10. I just love hearing stories about the kids. There are times that I really want another one so they can play with Sadie but we haven't gotten there yet, maybe someday.

  12. MJ, at least don't consider it till after the wedding. You have too much on your plate anyway. But then .... gofer it!

TL, I guess you have a point there. But does he blame everyone else, like she does? I remember so many times she did that! I'm so glad you never did things like that! :)

  13. You are such a good mama, Lyn.

And thank you so much for all your words of wisdom, too. You're also a good TEACHER.

  14. I love your new puppy, what a cutie and such a personality. Thanks for the update, I was wondering how the rest of the gang was dealing with the new sibling!

The comics really are great. They made me smile, thank you for that.

Also, thanks for the comment. It meant so much and I needed to hear that.

    Love and hugs.

  15. Cathy, it is easy to be good with these kids. They are sweet and so grateful.

I'm glad I can offer some helpful words from time to time, my friend. :)

Cheryl, you're welcome, and I'm glad you came by to check things. It is going well, thank goodness.

I happy to hear that you got a smile out of these!

You know, of course, that I may be retired, but I can't quit being the SW. It's a curse, I think. :) I'm glad to be around to be supportive.

  16. Love those cartoons (as always)!

Just tell them "Girls! Girls! You are BOTH pretty"! hehe.......

  17. Patti, I tried that, but Jazi sniveled and said, "But she's so young and unwrinkled and vivacious!" And Lita said, "What's pretty?" Is that good? Do I eat it? Where did I get it? What time is it?"

If you have something to say about it, just stick out your thumb, and I'll slow down so you can hop aboard! But hang on, 'cause I'm movin' on down the road!!! No time to waste!!!
