These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Random Gibberish!

My thoughts are all over the place today, and I had no specific thing to write about. As I read my daily comics, I came up with several things reflected by some of them. So .....

I was just thinking .... what has happened is done. It can't be undone, or at least most of it can't, but something HAS to change from now on! I'd like to recommend:
  • No bonuses, NONE!, anywhere. Those bonuses should go to the shareholders and/or taxpayers.
  • All company perks disappear for any company that is losing money. Well, except health care. That can stay as a perk, but anything that equals a tax loophole goes.
  • No "comped" anything. If it takes 80 hours to do your job, it does. If it takes 80 hours, hire another person to do the other 40! That means more taxes being paid into the system.
  • Anyone on a governmental payroll should have a "rollback" in salary, beginning with President and his Cabinet, the Senators and Representatives. I wonder if they are willing to take 10% less to help the budget?
I could go on, but I won't. And of course, I'm being facetious. Well, maybe not on everything, ' cause those in leadership positions should take great leaps to turn the trend. OK, I'm done.

That reminded me of a time when my daughter, TL, was perhaps 12, and she was taking the bus from Kansas City to Tulsa to her paternal grandparent's house. Her daddy was picking her up there for a visit in New Mexico. It was a little scary putting my daughter on a bus alone, and frankly I don't remember why we didn't drive her down as we often did. She was preparing herself for the trip, packing for several weeks with her dad and a little bag of things to occupy her during the bus trip. She had a vinyl album of Tom T. Hall (does anyone remember him?) that she loved, and she asked me to make a tape of it so she could listen to it on her little tape player. One of the songs on the album is one I know you've all heard, "I Love". (If you've forgotten the song, here at the end of this post are the lyrics**)

As I was copying the album, I stopped the record after that song and recorded myself saying, "I love you, too, Ter-Bear..," then continued recording the rest of the songs. She told me later that it really surprised her. She loved it and cried when she hear that. I'm glad I did it, but I don't know about sending a note in the lunch box, as sweet as it might be!! LOL!

I got snow again last night, but only about 1/2 inch. It's all gone now, even though it just reached 32° a few minutes ago. I love the sunshine here in NM, and how it keeps things "moving right along"! Seriously, listening to the weather reports around the country, it does raise the question about regulation! What the heck is going on in Washington State and Oregon?? That isn't normal, is it? Sheesh! I love snow, but I love it it in the New Mexico way .... here today, gone tomorrow! Now, that's good regulation!!

OK, no real deep thoughts on this, but I'm having an egg sandwich for lunch in a few minutes! LOL!! Actually, there is one thought I'd share .... this is one advantage to living alone. I can eat anything I want without being reminded (read that "chastized"!!) of details. Oh, wait. That's also a disadvantage, isn't it? Drat!

Have you ever had a friend like this? One who seems hell-bent to argue any little detail? I mean, taking issue with every little thing is crazy-making!! Pointing out the other person's error is a way of building your own ego, and what a crappy way to do it! Highlighting that someone else is "always" wrong is underhanded, and it just sucks! What is the need to always be right all about, anyway? If I'm always right, I have nothing to learn, and that is a sad state of affairs. Don't misunderstand .... I am usually right [;D] but I want to grow more, so I at least try to keep my trap shut part of the time and listen to other people. Seriously, needing to always be right is a bore, is a friendship breaker, and is a way to assure that you will have lots of "alone time." We all do it sometimes, but I hope I'm "in check" most of the time. Slap me if I'm not!!!

Alright, you guys have a luverly day!!!

**In case you are blanking on the song, "I Love," here are the lyrics:
I love little baby ducks, old pick-up trucks, slow-moving trains, and rain.
I love little country streams, sleep without dreams, Sunday school in may, And hay
And I love you too

I love leaves in the wind, pictures of my friends, birds in the world, and squirrels
I love coffee in a cup, little fuzzy pups, bourbon in a glass, and grass
And I love you too

I love honest open smiles, kisses from a child, tomatoes on the vine, and onions
I love winners when they cry, losers when they try, music when it's good, and life
And I love you too

  2. I remember Tom T. Hall!
That's so sweet (and sounds just like something you would do!)

I've got a friend that loves to be argumentative, always thinks she's right, just wears me out sometimes. Annoying!

  3. Red, he did some nice songs, didn't he? I loved that it was music that I felt good about my kids hearing. 7 inches in nothing TO YOU!! :D

Patti, I have such a friend, too, obviously the impetus for that part of the post, and my late husband was the king of controversy!!! "Annoying" is being very kind!

  5. Awwwwwwwwww! TL, I'm glad you read that! It was a good memory, wasn't it? Do you still have that album? Or is it one that I brought here and then you said you didn't need me to keep it? If so I know where it is, and I can go borrow it and make you a tape! ILY!

  10. Awwww, I LOVE that song, too! I'm gonna have to hunt that song down and add it to my playlist. THANKS!

And, yeah, argumentative friends are hard. I'm all for playing devil's advocate, but only for certain people and on special occasions. ;)

  11. Red, oh, yeah!

TL, I kinda thought you had it! Oh, yeah! MP3!! Now wait! Are you telling me that my fabulous SIL doesn't have the equipment to digitalize it???? LOL! I'm stunned!

Cathy, it is one of the coolest songs, isn't it? Being devil's advocate is one thing, and being controlling as to the nth degree is something else.
