These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

A New Day

I don't know. I just never could remember what I was going to write about yesterday. I'm guessing that tells you how important it was, doesn't it? Sheesh. Can you believe I throw such drivel at you? Oh! You can? You've read it before? Oops. Sorry about that! Well, here's some more!

I have a bit of a busy day ahead. Nothing drastic. I have to do some house cleaning and I need to get into town for several errands. I need to do errands in two directions, Capitan and Ruidoso, and I can't decide whether to try to do it all today or split it out. Tomorrow is possibly a photography and sketching day in the morning. Friday is yoga and a town festival, Smokey Bear Days. Saturday the festival continues. Sunday is a Laugh Parade in celebration of World Laughter Day. I'm going to be busy. But it will get done at some point.

Nights are finally warm enough that I could put my plants out, so yesterday I moved about half of them out on the deck. It looks nice to see them hanging and sitting out there. Plants at the front of a house make it more inviting, don't they?I had to be careful where I placed them so my little plant-killer can't get to them and eat them. She is such a handful!

I also unfolded furniture on the deck after cleaning and straightening. It is looking very good out there, but I still have some work to do. I have tools that have been stored there (I didn't know which ones I would need regularly so put them on the deck in the beginning) which need to be moved to the well house, and I have several things to haul to the dumpster. I'm still going through settling in, figuring out what I do and don't need. Sometimes I look at something I brought from KC and wonder why I kept it, but the thing is when I packed I didn't know where I was going to end up or what I would want and need. I also wonder why it is taking me so long to sort and get rid of things, till I realize the amount of things I had (have) to go through and how much my life changed in this time. Every time I look at something and say "I don't need that," it is like another weight lifts. I have to keep reminding myself it is a process not a product. A journey, not a destination.

I should probably get ready and get the day started.

Happy Hump Day!!

  1. I just happened upon your site. I really like the layout. I, too, started readying my porch for flowers and plants yesterday. Yes, it is finally warm enough. Yay! Although, today it is raining in New Jersey. Spring is definitely here. --Cheryl

  4. For cryin' out loud! I replied to the 2 Cheryls earlier. Where did it GO??? sigh.

Cheryl (runamoks),I'm glad you stopped by. Yes, warm weather is here, and even when it is raining, it tends to be warm from now on into fall. It feels good to be moving outside again. :)

Ms. Wray, I have had a good day, thanks. And yes, cleaning and thinning out is refreshing, and when I do it, I always wonder why I put it off!

Bobbie, just a few days ago my nights were still in the low 40s and 30s, so I know what you mean. I'm just glad to get them out for their sake and mine, too.

  5. Cleaning up and lossing baggages is a good thing. Time is okay to take when getting rid of things. Don't you just love spring and getting thing outside, especially ourselves.

  6. I should go through some of my stuff and toss. Yesterday it was in the 90s here. Today it struggled to get in the 60s with none other than MORE rain.

  7. MJ, spring is a renewal time, and cleaning is renewing, lightening the load is renewing. Yes, I love it.

Daisy, gee, you have had more than your share of moisture, haven't you? Snow and rain, rain and snow. Now what have you been doing wrong, Daisy?? ;D

  10. Regarding throwing stuff out, I have a big Tupperware bin with a collection of travel brochures, flyers, souvenirs. Hundreds of them. Occasionally I'll go through and "purge" what I don't think I'll ever look at.

Then as Murphy's Law would predict, I dug through there looking for travel information on the Finger Lakes region of New York. I remember having it at one time, but apparently threw it away figuring I would never use it. Now my son is going to college near there and I went looking for it. Darn, isn't it the way it goes is that you throw away the things that some day you'll wish you hadn't. Me anywy.

  11. Oops, that last reply was to Cheryl, not Cheryk! Sheesh!

And Dave, what you say is so true. My late hub was a major pack rat, but what he kept (until the last year when his rationale was compromised) was "fixit stuff." It drove us all crazy. One day he decided the garage was overloaded, and he began a major clean up. It was amazing what he threw away, and he was so proud of himself. Then not long after, he needed some little piece or part that was no longer being manufactured, and .... you guessed it .... it was gone!

Where do you draw the line? I donno!

If you have something to say about it, just stick out your thumb, and I'll slow down so you can hop aboard! But hang on, 'cause I'm movin' on down the road!!! No time to waste!!!
