These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Attitude!!

I had to laugh at Lola this morning. She was sitting near me on the couch, chewing on a toy. Her butt was near my hip, probably about four to six inches away. She was minding her own business, I was reading.

Joey hopped up on the couch, stepped over Lola, and sank into a comfortable spot right next to my hip and thigh. He sighed a contented sigh. I patted him without stopping reading, then glanced over and immediately laughed out loud.

Lola was apparently not pleased that he had plopped down between herself and me, and she was giving him The Evil Eye!!! I swear, it is the same cold stare I've seen my kids give each other when they know better than to say something that would start an argument! I couldn't get to the camera, but this is almost The Look:

"I was next to Mom first. Get out. Get out! And don't touch me again!!!!"

After about thirty seconds of steady glaring, she put her mouth back on the chew toy, stopped and looked at him again for another five seconds. Then she gave a short, throaty growl, and went back to chewing .... after moving herself just far enough that he was no longer touching her!!

  1. Awwwww....The Stare....my cat Leif does that to everyone including me. Apparently, we are all to read his mind and move accordingly.....Mary (Ox)

  2. Mary, for a human you are quite smart. Of course you are supposed to read his mind! It's a cat thing! I've had cats most of my life, and I understand about that sort of thing. BTW, Leif asked me to pass along that you should feel privileged that he invites to read his mind.

  6. What do they call that, the green monster or something like that? My Ruby has jealousy issues. She is the alpha dog this I know but sometimes they take it a bit to far! Oh the drama! Love Di

  7. Dogs are cute like that. Today I saw this young man who looked like a street musician type sitting on a bench, his guitar next to him. He had a big dog too and the dog was sitting on the bench as well, his head resting on the guitar case. Reminded me of that song Mr. Bojangles.

  8. Patticakes, what would out lives be without our 4-leggers? And you're welcome. I know how hard it is, and I would never kid you about that. Losing our moms just shouldn't have to be something we face in life.

Di, all five of these kids are jealous, but only two consistantely let the green eyed monster take over, Max and Lola. And you're right about drama! Lola's is so human-like that it is scary!

Dave, I love watching the personalities of dogs. Some are more obvious than others, but all are cute! And, as you know, when you live with them, it is so in your face! Love 'em!!

  11. They are sooo much smarter than we ever give them credit for. What joy and company they are.

About the car covered in sticky notes. Don't have a clue. It was in the parking lot of our condo complex and I just had to get a picture of it. I think someone is really, really loved.

  12. Pam, I agree about the dogs. I've often thought I'd love for them to be able to speak, so I'd know what they are thinking. Then other times, I'm glad they don't!!

OH, OK. I thought perhaps that was your car or your daughter's. I agree, it took a lot time to do that, and I have to be absolutely crazy about someone to spend that much time!!

If you have something to say about it, just stick out your thumb, and I'll slow down so you can hop aboard! But hang on, 'cause I'm movin' on down the road!!! No time to waste!!!
