These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

A memory ......

My sister told me the sweetest story tonight. I had called to chat and give her encouragement. She had just returned to her home at the assisted living facility after being with my brother-in-law all day. She mentioned that the employees at the facility have been sweet and caring to them, and today a couple of them were really emotional about my BIL going into hospice. She said they really do seem to care, and a couple of them have said they just love him with his kind attitude and his sense of humor, even in the face of his many limitations.

I said, "Well, he's very easy to love."

She replied, "You're not telling me anything. [They've been married just short of 55 years] He's the first and only man who walked into my office, asked for my phone number and got it!"

I'm so glad she has the precious memories.

  1. That is a sweet story and memories are so important at times like this.

  2. Yes, it is, and one I'd never heard .... in 55 years! I'm so glad she remembered it for me. And for her.

  3. I am so sorry for you and your family's loss. Is this the sister & brother-in-law that recently relocated closer to you from north Texas? My thoughts and prayers will continue to go out to you and yours for as long as you need them. Put your right hand on your left shoulder and your left hand on your right shoulder and squeeze....Now you have a hug from me, hope it helps. Our memories of loved ones that pass on can not be taken away from us.

  4. Yes, the same, DJ. Thank you for the hugs and reminders. :')

If you have something to say about it, just stick out your thumb, and I'll slow down so you can hop aboard! But hang on, 'cause I'm movin' on down the road!!! No time to waste!!!
