These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Heavy duty stuff in my life

This has been a brutal few days. I'm dealing with some "stuff" in my life and my stress is high. I'm really feeling overwhelmed and struggling to stave off depression. I'll be OK. It's just gonna take a while to work things out.

I've determined that my financial situation is disastrous. No, I'm not kidding, that is a fact. Since my choices are limited .....I can struggle along for a while yet, then wind up needing to find a way to supplement my income when I'm 70, vs my current 66 ....  I decided I should go to work now while I still can without as much difficulty. So I'm off to find answers to many question in the next few days. It may include finding a job in an art gallery or similar business, applying for my license to practice Clinical Social Work in NM, or it could go so far as to make me consider moving out of my beloved home to find a job elsewhere. I sincerely pray it is not the latter. But I can't continue to drain what is left of my retirement funds now. :'(

Secondly, I'm worried about family members who are struggling with their own lives. It is so hard to watch people I love floundering and in pain, without being able to make everything right again in their lives. This is weighing heavily on me. I know I shouldn't be so concerned about others business, but I can't help it. I hurt when those I love hurt.

So .... I may be somewhat absent for the next week or even more. Sometimes there are things in life that take precedence over even the blog and Facebook.  :)  Till next time, whenever that is.

  2. Sorry to hear of your troubles Lynilu. Working is a pain sometimes but it can also bring you unexpected joy, besides that paycheck! I hope you find just what will make you happy since you need to earn some money. It's always easier when you love what you do, that's for sure. As for family struggles, it's good to care but try not to stress too much especially if there's nothing you can really do. Maybe just some loving prayers will make you feel better and help them as well. Tis the season, after all! I'll be thinking (and saying a little prayer) of you and wishing you find exactly what you are looking for!

  5. Don't forget substitute teaching. My cousin Deanna Runningwater retired from the local district there last year. Something else to put in the mix. Love you

  7. Troubles here too Lyn - family situation that I can do nothing about. Havent spoken with youngest daughter since mid Oct and Im tired of the hysterics and drama. Get the odd answer to my questions in F/B but she might as well be talking to the coffee lady at Starbucks. I just keep plodding along and hope for the best. You are such a strong woman, I'm sure you will figure out your financial situation, and I bet you have several options. Take care,

    Hugs..Ruth

  8. Thanks, everyone. It will work out, one way or another, and whatever that is, well, I'll live with it.

Anon, thanks. I've thought about that, and I plan to apply at all the school districts and the college, as well. sigh.

  9. Knowing someone in your family is having trouble and not being able to jump in and make the tousle go away is hard. Stand back and be assured that whatever it is will make them stronger in the long run.

Mom can't fix everything for the rest of their life.

  10. Merikay, we've talked about that, and she knows she will be stronger for the experience, but It just hurts to see someone you love in pain.

And what do you mean, "Mom can't fix everything for the rest of their life"??? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! ;D

  12. Sorry to hear that tough times have fallen on your fam. I hate so many ppl who have made this happen...and continue to struggle for power so they can do the same. (Not to go all political.) My 74 year old dad still cuts meat in a cold grocery store 4 days a week and when I think about all of it collectively, it just makes me angry and sad.

  13. I so sympathise with all of the above. My husband has another three years before retiring and we are constantly worried about how to last another 30! (so the literature predicts!) Chin up. Thinking of you.

  14. As I said to someone earlier today .... sometimes when life doesn't give us what we want (or think we do) it turns out to be better than OK, because often the alternative is better than we imagined. We'll see. I'm still stressed somewhat, but I'm not sitting and wailing! Thanks everyone!

  16. I just listened to the Senator from Vermont. He rocks. I wish more senators and other leaders would jump on his band wagon. I posted a rant this morning.
I am so disgusted with the financial situation in our government and on 'Wall Street'. I think it really has reached a tipping point where if Congress doesn't stand up for all Americans not just rich Americans, then our country is lost to corruption.
