These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Stirring the pot

This evening I reposted a statement from a friend's FB page. I thought it was a good reminder that we apply our opinions unevenly. I wanted to make us each think and be aware of our thoughts and actions. I didn't think of it as being terribly controversial, but I guessed wrong! There was quite an interesting exchange that followed! Anyway, I though I would post the statement here and see what opinions come of it.

Here it is:

Borrowed from M.....

I am not a bully but I support and share Anti bullying comments, I am not a homosexual but I support and share GLBT rights comments. Please enlighten me as to why one is looked on with favor while the other ....not so much?

OK, let's hear it!

BTW, if you're interested, I will post the conversation from FB after leaving this open for 24 hours or so.

  1. I don't know what GLBT stands for. I'm very sheltered!
    Love Di ♥

  2. Yes, you are, Di! LOL! It stands for "gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered."

  3. Personally, I don't think the two statements follow the same logic. But I've never taken philosophy or any of those classes that explain logic.

Some people feel that gay rights intrudes upon the rights and beliefs of others, especially those in faith-based communities. Story around here goes that the local hospital, trying to be open to those GLBT, asked what the medical community could do to be more welcoming. They were told to remove from medical examining rooms and waiting areas objects that promoted religion, spiritualism and God, as many GLBT felt them offensive. I'm not sure the story is true, but it's why you can run into controversy whenever talking about gay rights. I stay away from the subject myself.

If you have something to say about it, just stick out your thumb, and I'll slow down so you can hop aboard! But hang on, 'cause I'm movin' on down the road!!! No time to waste!!!
