These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Weather craziness.

The craziness referenced above isn't here! No, we got snow on Christmas Eve, about three inches, but nothing to worry about. It's what that storm did when it moved east!

The last 24 hours have been insane. My daughter and her two kids were scheduled to fly out of Orlando something around this time yesterday. She lives about an hour drive from Orlando, and a friend had driven her and the kids there so she didn't have to leave her car for ten days. Then, not long before it was time for her to fly, the flight was cancelled. The Dallas airport was experiencing a severe storm. She was rescheduled to leave this morning shortly after 7:00. She decided to just get a hotel room for the night.

Before they left the airport, she got a message on her cell saying that flight was now cancelled. ????

She fortunately hadn't checked into a hotel, but now she was stranded in Orlando, no way to get home, and the wait to reschedule on the phone was over an hour. She called her friend, but didn't get an answer, so tried another who fortunately was happy to drive to Orlando and pick her up.

She eventually learned that the Dallas airport was closed all day today, and the earliest she could leave is tomorrow. Now her 10 day trip is an 8 day trip. Still doable.

Then this morning, she sent me a text early. She knows I don't keep the cell in the bedroom, so that is a way to avoid waking me.  I called her back a few minutes later and learned that she now had a medical urgency. Nothing that would cancel the trip, but a major inconvenience because none of the doctors were in their offices!! Finally she was able to get hold of one of them to call in a prescription, so she should be good to go now.

She and the kids will fly into Albuquerque tomorrow and spend the night with her father there. Then they'll be here on Friday for a visit then back to visit more with him. It's all going to work out, but it has been a tense, crazy few hours!

Meanwhile I took off work tomorrow. I've decided to go in for just a short while for an important meeting in the morning, then skeedaddle before I get caught up in stuff. I'll come home and get the last minutes things done for her arrival.

I'm really looking forward to having her and the kids here for a bit. We lost one day because of all this mess, but it could be far, far worse. We will be able to do some touristy shopping and have quality fun time. That's what matters.

My Christmas Day was very quiet and low key. I was alone, cleaned house, had several long and happy telephone conversations. I spent time with the pups, watching them play with new toys and chew bones. And I also rested. There ya go. It was a fine day! Well, it was fine, once we got past the Florida-Dallas crisis.

Now I'm tucked in for this evening, planning to hit the sack fairly early and get a good rest before tomorrow's early meeting. Then I'm off for six wonderful days!! Woo hoo!!

It's all good. Crises come and go, and life goes on! Yep, it's all good.

    1. She's not here yet. She will be arriving in ABQ in a short time, then spend the night with her dad before coming down here tomorrow. I can't wait!
