These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Tiny little ladybug.
Small enough to miss
unless I pay attention.
When I see you,
I’m reminded of many happy things.
You represent a time long ago
when you landed on my baby’s arm
and fascinated her with nothing more
than your stroll across the expanse
that was her tiny forearm.
How simple my joy in watching
your parade from her elbow to wrist.
I wonder if you found her skin
as soft, as sweet, as I did.
You certainly lingered,
took your time on your safari,
so you must have found it pleasant.
It was nothing more than that,
yet the experience was sweet.
That memory lingers even today,
and every time I see you . . .
or is it perhaps your great-great-granddaughter? . . .
I’m taken back to that day.
And I smile.

The rest of this story is that she watched the lady bug meander all over her forearm for several minutes., standing very still and totally absorbed in watching. Eventually the bug crawled up to her wrist, then her little one year old eyes widened, and as she brought the wrist toward her face, her mouth opened as well! I got there just in time to save the life of the ladybug!! Today my 30-something daughter wears ladybug jewelry whenever she can. It's a very special connection between us.

PS - Since this picture, a year ago, I've lost almost 40 pounds! Hurrah for me!!

  1. I put a comment on here while blogger was acting up and I noticed it's not here, so I will restate what I did earlier. I love this poem. I can really see from your words the ladybug crawling down her arm. Very sweet pictures. Looking at this picture I can really see the weight you have lost. You are looking very good.

  2. Caroline - Thank you for all the comments. I have always loved that picture of Terri, because she looks so precious. Especially thanks for the comment on my weight. I looked at that picture as I was searching for one of the 2 of us together, and I struck me how differently shaped I am now! Not finished, but doing great!

  3. I love you, Mama. I just stopped in briefly before heading to work. You brought a tear to my eye. Great, now I got to redo my make-up!! I will stop by again soon and really read more!!!

  4. TL - Sorry about the make up!!! ILY

  5. My father calls me Ragged Bug (using my real name) and it makes me tear up every single time. Thanks for sharing this.

If you have something to say about it, just stick out your thumb, and I'll slow down so you can hop aboard! But hang on, 'cause I'm movin' on down the road!!! No time to waste!!!
