These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Is This . . . . It ? ? ?

OHMYGAWD, I think I've found the house!!! It is very different than what I'd imagined, even in my wildest dream, and I'm a little surprised at myself. Allan and I drove by it today, and I just fell in love. I can't see the inside until Friday, and so it isn't certain just yet. I feel strongly enough that I've made an appointment with a lender tomorrow morning, and notified my KC realtor to sell that sucker!! No pictures yet. It is to early. I'll get back to you on it.

We looked at another today, and I would give my eye teeth to have the location. The view was unbelievable and completely breath-taking. It was near the top of a mountain, overlooking Ruidoso, Sierra Blanca and other mountain ranges, several valleys. It felt as if you could see forever. I'm guessing the elevation was 7500-8000 feet. Stunning views. But the price was too much for the condition and size of the condo. It was apparently built to be a "get-away," and the living room, dining room and kitchen were teeny-tiny! I'm not sure I could have put my couch and recliner in the living room and there was no place at all for a 32" TV!! I could never seat more than 4 in the dining room, and the kitchen was a one-person room for sure. I don't mind that, but the storage was abysmal. The bedrooms were fine. One was a loft overlooking the living room, and would have been a perfect office with nice views. But the condition of the whole place was not good, lots of little fix-ups needed. By the time I got everything in shape and livable for me, it would have been $$, and it was still debatable about the general living space being enough to be comfortable. I almost shed a tear over the view as we drove off, but I knew it wouldn't be a happy place for me in the end.

I'll let you know about the other one. Cross those fingers, everyone!!!

Update, 11/8 @ 2:50 PM - I was preapproved for a loan to the full amount I requested. In fact, he said he could approve me for twice that much because of my excelent credit and "independent income." All I could think was, "And I would pay it back HOW???" I figured my budget and how much I am willing to pay, and I'll stick to it, but it is good to know. I suppose if something came in slightly above my upper limit I could go for it. I'm going to talk with a couple more mortagers to see what they offer, but I'm guessing I'm getting a swinging deal, 'cause it is less than Allan & I were guess-timating. So everything is GO! I'll keep you informed.

  1. Yay! I hope it is as dreamy inside as out! You shot the elephant. Hmm... I could use some of your luck in my searches... :) We both know that the right thing will come along for me, too. I'm so happy for you.

  2. s3 - If this happens, you'll be surprised when I reveal the house. As surprised as I am!! LOL. Just remember our recent communication about houses, and you'll understand when the time is right! Hey, if this goes well, I'll drive up and rub some of the good luck from my palm to yours, OK?

  3. I am really excited for you Lynilu! You'll definitely have to keep us updated. You've really got me curious :-)

To respond to your question in the last post, I lived in Santa Fe and then Taos for a short time - from Jan. 2000 to Jan. 2006. I loved it. I moved there from So. CA because of a very powerful dream that I had. I followed my heart and was not disappointed!

I wish you much joy and fulfillment in your new home in the magical land of NM :-)

  4. eileen - Ahhh! I have been amazed with the number of "So. CA transplants" I've met since being here just a month! People from Texas are frequent visitors, but those from CA stay.

I will update at the appropriate time, and I thank you for the well-wishes! I'm (as everyone knows) very contented being back here.

  5. I find house-hunting to be one of the most enjoying, exciting things there is. As long as you aren't afraid to keep passing on those that are 'close but not quite THE ONE', you will be so happy in the end. Enjoy the process!

There might be pics on the MLS you can copy/paste. Just a thought?

  8. sandra - Oh, there are pics, but I'm chosing to hold off until after I see the inside of the house. Trust me, when the decision is made whether this one or another, I'll post pics!!

It is exciting! I just find it somewhat stressful because this is my "virgin solo home purchase." I'm glad I have my son for another pair of eyes. He's good about pointing out good and bad, but steps way back from any hint of decision making. So I have support; it's just a big deal for me, ya know?

caroline - Wouldn't that be luverly??? If this one really is *the* one, it would be possible. If I have to continue looking, it could be a bit longer. I'm still checking listings, and so is Allan. You never know . . . a more perfect one could show up!

  11. mrhaney - I know what you mean. At this point, the view is as imortant as the house. Not that I'd live in an inferior house, but the view is important, too. Thanks for the luck!

  14. cameo - Yes, it is good! I'm still holding out a bit on feeling "my place," because until I am certain about the inside and the pesky necessary details that must be considered, I don't want to lay emotional claim. Can't wait for tomorrow.

ilias - Congrats to you, too! Finding a place in Santa Fe can be challenging. So if you've found yours, that is wonderful. I hope you have found the home of your heart.

  17. Came here from My Haneys blog.
Good luck with your Home hunting.
We used to have a good view of the mountains, but then they added so many short streets and new homes between our street and the mountains that the mountain is almost completely hidden from view. Hope you find your dream home with a great scenery to enjoy.

  18. dotm - Thank you so mych for dropping by and the well-wishes. The spot I'm looking at is fairly safe from obstruction of view, simply because of it's location. I'm guessing that I'm safe for the remainder of my lifetime . . . after that, it's the kids problem!!!

  19. Really wonderful and in detail account of narration.

Its also nice to see such patient and pertinent writings which is very rare in the present days of fast writing !!

  20. mr. blogger - Thank you! I enjoy writing, probably the biggest reason for such detail. Hmmm. That is written in the form of an English teacher. Are you?
