These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

TGIF

Sheesh, what a day.

I got up this morning, and it was snowing. There was less than an inch, but never the less, the ground was covered again. That means the parts that had cleared were covered; there are still large areas, in fact, most of the yard, that are still covered with 4-6 inches of snow. It was a beautiful snow with big, soft flakes. It continued to snow lightly for a while, and I think we ended up with about an inch of snow. Most of that melted off during the day.

I got the home inspection report, and all is good. There are a couple items that will be addressed in a counter for improvements, but they are relatively small and hopefully, easily corrected. So I called the mortgage company to let them know, and I learned that, oops, they forgot to tell us there should have been a termite inspection done sometime in this past couple weeks! Yikes! Well, February 1 is the deadline for everything to be ready, so I got busy getting this set up.

However, every place I called said they couldn't do it until 2/1, 2/2, or 2/3!!! Many of them are going to be in annual training for licensing renewal on 1/29, 1/30 and 1/31. I realize that we could request an extension, but I want it over and done! I'd already been on the phone for about 2 hours trying to get this arranged, and I was becoming really frustrated, when it dawned on me that the first guy, the one I'd like to have do it, said he could do the inspection on 2/1, and since that is the due day that my latest counter, it would be possible to get the inspection done in the AM and then send the counter in the PM. Whew! So another 45 minutes on the phone, and everything is in place, and we are on the road again!

This has been frustrating, but it is a small wrinkle in the process as compared to what some others have had to go through. It has moved nearly according to schedule with weather being the biggest issue. So at this time, it appears that some time around the end of February or the beginning of March, I will be moving! Finally!

It also means that Caroline and Laura need to watch out, 'cause I'm gonna be in KC, and I plan to put them to work, then drag them back here with me to work some more. LOL!!!

It is snowing again now. It seems that we might have another 1-3 inches overnight. Tomorrow will be sunny and in the mid- to upper-40s, so it will probably melt a lot. I've just buttoned up the house for the night and poured a glass of wine. Ahhhhhh.

  2. Oh,Jenn, moving is not easy, you're right. But remember that I've been living in temporary circumstances (with relatives and in the KC house with no furniture while preparing it for sale) for what will be a year and a half before I can move. So it sounds wonderful to me. I'm very tired of having a temporary life! Glad you had a glass of vino with me! I hate drinking alone! ;-)

  3. Y'know...I did know you were in a temporary situation but I didn't add it up in my head that it had been so long. I realize wee have more in common now...my situation has been transitional too...for the last 19 months.

When I left him, my mom moved in with me to help through the divorce...and while she's been an incredible help...it's definitely not where we'll end up. And we certainly never expected it to take so long.

We both laugh sometimes when I joke about being a divorced, single mother whose own mother resides with her.

Anyway - yay that you get to move!

  4. Jenn - I understand about not realizing the time span. After all, time flies when you're having a goo...when your life is consumed with things out of your control!! Sometimes, I have trouble realizing how long it has been. Honestly, there are some holes in my memory over the last 2-3 years, and those missing periods are clustered around the really rough times. We never do predict correctly the time "things" will take, I think. I thought it would take me a month or two to have the KC house really to sell; it took *seven* and I really worked hard at it.

Aren't you fortunate that you had your mother there? What a godsend! I'm happy that you are freed up to move on, as well. The good thing is that we can both smile and anticipate positive things in our lives now!

    Yay for us both!!

If you have something to say about it, just stick out your thumb, and I'll slow down so you can hop aboard! But hang on, 'cause I'm movin' on down the road!!! No time to waste!!!
