These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Well, Today Is Better Than Yesterday . . . But It Is All Relative

I feel yucky. And today is better than the last two! My nose is sore. I'm congested. This alternates with faucet-like running from the nose. I'm on my 4th box of tissues. I'm coughing. I'm aching, but not too badly now.

I've had enough medication to kill a moose. I've sucked on enough cough lozenges to pave a block of the street. I've had enough tea that my bladder thinks I have a spigot attached to my throat. I've had more water than tea. I've tried chicken soup.

I slept more than I was awake from Friday noon through this morning. In fact, I slept so much I barely ate yesterday, 2 pieces of dry toast and a half sandwich, then a small bowl of ice cream, all so I could take meds.

Today I've been awake all day, and I've eaten fairly regularly. I think I will live. I've read a few blogs and even commented on some. Tomorrow, I might be more or less human again. I hope so. I don't like being the snot monster with a killer cough.

  3. Happy New Year!
The start of a New Year is a good timing for a good cold...this checks your system, ask your body to react. As nature is very well built, you will soon feel better than ever and ready to eat this Year 2007 with great appetite...
Did you buy your native flute?

  4. Old Lady - I'm trying to. I had bronchitis long, long ago, and this is the first time that a cold has gotten hold of my lungs in many years. Boy, I hate this! My ribs are sore from coughing!

Cheryl - Thanks for the hugs. Every one near me is afraid to hug me! I'm past the contagious stage, but the cough is ugly to hear.

Patrice - A good cold (is that an oxymoron??) would be OK, but this one unfortunately moved to my previously damaged lungs, so I fear will be with me for some time. Arghhh. I'm trying to have a positive outlook, but it is a challenge!!

No I didn't buy the flute yet. I will probably wait until I move into my home (soon, I hope!!!) so that I'm not packing more "stuff" here into my son's home. I can't wait to sit on that beautiful deck facing East to learn to play it! I'll keep you posted.

  6. Glad you are feeling a little better and I hope by tomorrow you are feeling all better. I hate colds. They are the worst since there is nothing you can do but wait. When I have a cold all I want to do is sleep which I usually can't do because laying down makes it so hard to breathe. Get well soon.

  7. Patti - Thanks, I'm trying!

Caroline - I had no choice on Saturday. I could not stay awake. I simply moved from bed to couch and back to bed. I tried to watch TV, but it did not good. By yesterday AM, my back was painful from it all. I'll be so glad to get this over with. I'm heading back to the drug store for something for the cough. I'm dyin' here with the cough. Thanks for the wishes.

  8. Are you starting to wonder how one person can create so much "fluid" and why one minute you are dehydrated and the other minute a faucet? Hang in there, hope you feel better soon.

Lots of rest and of course. . . fluids.

  10. Ragged - Oh, lawdy, yes!! I just made another run to the drug aisle at the local market for Robitussin DM. It is calming down so that now my biggest problem is the cough, so an expectorant is in order. I am feeling better, but It'll be a few days before I bounce back, I suspect. Fluids? I feel like I'm floating!! But I know it is essential, so I'm being a good girl!

Jen - Sorry to hear you're under the weather, too. I hope yours passes quickly as mine has. Isn't it funny how when you're in the depth of illness, it seems to go on forever, but once it's over, you realize that it was actually just a few days? Hope you are back to bouncing soon.

If you have something to say about it, just stick out your thumb, and I'll slow down so you can hop aboard! But hang on, 'cause I'm movin' on down the road!!! No time to waste!!!
