These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Away

Hey, all ... I know this sounds inane, but I didn't realize until yesterday that it is Memorial Day. I'm sure I heard it, but it didn't register. I was supposed to leave Thursday to go to Odessa to help my sister and her family finish cleaning out the house! I'm leaving in an hour or so, and I will be away until Monday evening. I'm not taking the computer because I don't think they have Internet access at this point. You won't hear from me for a short while.

I hope everyone had a good holiday. But remember, while you're having fun, why we have this holiday. Remember those who gave so much so we might have our freedom. If you can, put a flower or a flag on the grave of a service man or woman. Our debt to them is paid with our respect for their having given their time, and sometimes their lives, for our country. We should honor them.

Peace to the USA and the world.

  1. Lynilu,

Hello, I am over from Seven's site and most know me by the Reach Handle. I have read numerous comments from you on his site and decided to pay your writings a visit. I plan on revisiting you with an interest of your thoughts- Thank you for sharing.

  2. Don't feel bad, I don't know what day it is and sometimes I don't know what month it is.

People forget the reason for the Holiday. Truly sad. They see it as an extra day off from work without realizing that holiday is for those that won't have an extra day off.

  3. If it weren't for the fact that I'm a government employee who got a reminder email telling me not to be at work on Monday for Memorial Day, I might've let it slip my mind as well...

Say hello to Odessa for me, and don't work too hard, Sweetie!

  8. To All - I had to laugh when I turned on the computer on my return. I had more messages while I was gone than I have on any other day!! Hey!! Youse guyz 'fraid a-me?? LOL!

Reach - Welcome. I've enjoyed your comments on Seven's site, and I've actually lurked a little at yours without commenting because I'm still in a state of overload with the move and getting settled. I'm having trouble keeping up with my "regular" visits for now, but I will be back ... and be seen! ... soon. Thanks for stopping in.

Pepper - I am sure you understand about my "calendar ignorance"!! Isn't it lovely to be able to do that? Well, most of the time, anyway.

Catherine - I'm laughing that "big brother" reminds you not to come to work!! Oh, My, your job must be exciting!! As for Odessa, I said goodbye. Since my sis will now be in East Texas, It is likely my final trip there. I've never cared for it, but she and her hubby called it home for over 40 years, so it is a hard day. And I'm exhausted, but I have to unload my truck today with a few treasures, then I can rest!

Annie - Thank you so much. I hope yours was restful and thoughtful. I've visited Sarge Charlie's site a few times, and altho I haven't been this weekend, I'm sure he treated it well.

Caroline - LOL! Yes, sweetie, it isn't all about you! I didn't make it to Glenn's grave because of the other commitment, but a cousin placed flowers and a flag there for me. I'm going down later this week. And Happy Birthday!!! Today is THE day!!

Patti - It was a good time, but busy and tiring. And emotionally stressful for my sis and BIL as they close the house and leave it forever after 42+ years. We all tried to remain positive, and for the most part did, but it is hard, just as my own similar experience was almost a year ago.

If you have something to say about it, just stick out your thumb, and I'll slow down so you can hop aboard! But hang on, 'cause I'm movin' on down the road!!! No time to waste!!!
