These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

FLORIDA!!!

I'm here!! It was a good trip. I left a bit later than I intended, but only about a half hour. I was just slow in getting around. I actually woke on time, but it felt so good to just lay there and stretch and snuggle back into the pillows again! The kids slept through my shower, getting dressed, all the way until I was almost ready to go. Even then, they were reluctant to eat and get their meds so we could leave. We were all lazy this morning, I guess.

I again put the CD in and began listening to the next chapter of the book as we pulled out. I finished it today ... the last few words just as I pulled into the driveway!! Was that good timing or what? It was a really good book! I told you I'd give you a report on it, and I'll just say that I enjoyed it a great deal. Dear John is about a couple who fall in love and struggle with the difficulties of a long distance relationship and with the added stress of war. That sounds like a chick flick book story, but I think men would enjoy it, too. I'm not up to date on what you guys read and enjoy, but it is written by a man and from the view of the man in the book. The main focus is on the relationship, but there is a part of it that addresses the effects of war on those involved, too. Next time you're on a road trip, rent it at Cracker Barrel and hit the pavement!

The trip was uneventful for me, thank goodness, but I passed an accident in the northbound lanes, apparently pretty bad, because there were eight or ten police and other emergency vehicles, at least a couple ambulances, and just as I passed it, going slowly because of the rubbernecking in my own lanes, a life flight helicopter landed on the highway next to the wreck. I was literally under the rotating blades as it touched down. I was moving just about ten miles an hour, and it was wild to be under the vibration of the rotors!

One time I was just rolling along with traffic, and I looked down at the speedometer to find I was going 92!!! I was simply moving at the pace of the majority of other cars! The cruise control was on, but I'd put my foot on the gas, probably during passing a car, and just didn't take it up again. What made it even more scary is that there were cars passing us, too!! As soon as I realized it, I let off the gas and slowed toward a normal pace. Just about the time I hit 75 I noticed that other vehicles were slowing, too. I thought they were slowing because I had suddenly dropped back and might signal a cop ahead. No, but slowing down I saved my butt and maybe theirs, too, because just then a state patrol car appeared in the median between stands of those tall trees! He didn't pull out, even though some of the cars were still doing what I'd guess to be 80. Someone probably was running with a fuzz buster up ahead of us and started slowing the "herd." Anyway, I reset the cruise control and kept my foot off the accelerator the rest of the day!!

It was nice to get hugs when I got here. And the dogs were happy to see each other. Mai Tai is China Doll's litter mate and the spitting image of their late mother, the sweet Mai Lin. All three of them waggled their tails and sniffed noses. Mai Tai has come to me several times tonight and just wagged her tail at me. Ali has had a ball with the kids throwing toys for him, and Aleksis brushed both Ali and China, but China was most appreciative, going simply limp on the floor with the attention! Kirk made lasagna for dinner. Yummmmm. He is also making pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving, and the house smells W.O.N.D.E.R.F.U.L!! Isn't family life great?

It is good to be at a destination for a while. Of course there will be a short trip for camping. but that will be with the family, so it will be different. I have few plans while here, but I will go to the beach at least once and just walk in the shallow surf.

I'm getting my hair cut and styled by my all-time favorite stylist tomorrow!! Vittorio. Ahhhhh, yesssss, Vittor-r-r-r-rio! It has been two years since I've seen him, but he is absolutely THE BEST. After my husband died, I had been without a regular stylist, getting cuts from whatever shop was near wherever I was at the time. For a period of about five months my hair was cut differently every time, and it was a wreck by the time I got here to TL's house. She made an appointment for me with Vittor-r-r-r-rio, and he worked a miracle, to say the least! He cut and styled my hair three times while I was here, and I've been fortunate to have stylists since then who could reasonably follow what he did. Tomorrow I get to have the real deal again. Vittor-r-r-r-rio!! My hero!! If you're wondering, yes, he is as handsome and sexy as his name. Too young for me, but hey, I can look and dream, can't I?? And I will!!

Goodnight! wink, wink!!!

Life is beautiful!!!

Vittorio sounds wonderful! A good hairstylist is like gold aren't they?

  4. Caroline - I will enjoy being here and the fun things. Florida is a wonderful place for picture taking. I've been on the patio and just marveling at the number of birds. I knew it, but I'd forgotten, sort of. I will be happy to pass hugs along to TL.

Sherry - Thanks, and I'll force myself to drag out the camera this afternoon for a self-portrait!! LOL!

Patti - The dogs didn't seem to really notice, believe it or not. We were out from under it fairly quickly, and they just raised their heads for a moment, then went back to their naps!. Yes, I'll drag a stick in the sand for you, OK?
