These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year, Everyone!!
I'm combining some funnies with trivia about New Year. See ya next year!!!!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

New Year's Eve is when all the fun and festivities are. We see out the old year and ring in the new. While it is often thought of as a time to drink and be merry, many people take it as an opportunity to eat and be merry. Drinking is not as much a part of the event as it was decades ago, if only because of tougher drunk driving laws.

To many Americans, the ball dropping at Times Square in New York City signals the start of the new year in this country. The ball was first dropped in 1908.

New Years Trivia: Did you know that a raisin dropped in a glass of fresh champagne will bounce up and down continuously from the bottom of the glass to the top.

Top 10 Most Common New Year Resolutions

1) Lose weight

6) Become more organized

10) Become a better person

The Scottish tune Auld Lang Syne is a common song sang right
after the stroke of midnight. The literal translation of the
song's title is "Old Long Ago." It was written primarily by
Robert Burns, but the song was not published until 1796, well
after Burns' death.

The tradition of using a baby to signify the New Year was
started by ancient Greeks around 600 B.C. They would carry
a baby around in a basket to honor Dionysus, the God of
Fertility and symbolize his annual rebirth.

The name January is derived from the Roman god Janus, the
god of gates and doors, hence of openings and beginnings.
On January 1 the Romans offered sacrifices to Janus so that
he would bless the new year.

And finally....... a quote worthy of taking our note.........

"Now is the accepted time to make your regular annual
good resolutions. Next week you can begin paving hell with
them as usual."
