These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh.........

Today was a good day. I got a number of things done at the Gallery that I'd been wanting to do. Or at least I was able to get started on some of them. I was busy all day long with customers. That is always a good thing, of course, because the customers are what pay the salaries! And it was a good day in sales, too. YAY!

It was drizzly when I went in this morning, and it sprinkled just enough to make it is little muggy today. Then, about 5:00, it began to really cloud up seriously, and by 5:30, the sky opened up with a downpour. YAY!! And YAY, again!! We need all the rain we can get! The rain wasn't long-lived or terribly heavy, but it was nice to see it, nonetheless. There were enough breaks that I was able to get my stuff and the dogs into the truck and I left the Gallery just about 6:00, closing time.

It is good to have some rain, for sure. When I got home, I was unloading everything and getting it into the house, and I was struck with the delicious smell of rain in the pines. Oh, is there anything better? I don't think so. I love the smell of salt sea breezes. I love the smell of lilacs in the spring. I love the fresh smell of anywhere after a rain. But to smell the mountain freshness with a rain is absolutely the best ever. Ahhhhhhh.

And just a while ago I stepped out on the deck and got these shots.....

This is to the southeast.

To the west as the sun is setting

To the north, the mountains are barely visable, but the clouds are spectacular. (You'll have to click on it to see the mountains.)

To the east, there is no sign of the Capitans. But do you see the sunshine lighting up the horse arena just above the green trees?

This is to the east. The Capitans are completely socked in with mist/rain/clouds/whatever. The horizon is pretty, however, and if you look almost center of the shot there is a hint of a rainbow.

A little close view of the rainbow.

And the rainbow in it's glory!

What a marvelous end to the day!! I definitely live if God's Country. How could anything this beautiful be other than.... ???

Oh, lawdy, Life is beautiful!!!!

  1. Very cool pictures and I am very glad you guys got some much needed rain. Looks like you need to continue with your rain dance you do every night. :)

As I was looking at the pics I saw the house with the green roof and I was like, "Hey, I remember that house". Isn't that the really big one by your house?

  8. I love the smell of rain too - mostly the kind that accompanies storms.
It is a goal of mine this year to see your beautiful state - perhaps we can meet in person!

  9. There is a LOT to be said for scent and what it means to us...it seems to me that you had one of those days where you were stimulated by a number of your senses and by the joy of the world around you. Those are THE best days in the world.

  10. Julie, I think for me most of it is that rain cleans the air, allowing the other scents to be more clear.

When you get ready for that trip, let me know, and we'll meet, for sure! I'd llke that! Email me and we'll exchange phone numbers!

Sherry, you're probably right. I think some days I am simply more open to the stimuli around me, and what marvelous days those are!
