These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Feet

I heard on the TV news at noon about a procedure available to people who have abused their feet in various ways (wearing high heels, playing tennis over the years, etc.), causing the fatty deposit on the underside of the ball of their feet to deteriorate. It becomes painful to walk without the padding. But here's the deal ...... the doctor injects (ouch!!) collagen into that area, putting a padding there and cushioning the person's step.

OK, I had to get past the image on the TV screen of a needle being inserted into the bottom of the foot in order to take another breath. I'm not needle-phobic, but that just looked SO painful!! As I listened to the rest of the report I thought, "Well, it might be a good deal for those of us who are older and losing the protective fatty pads in places like that while adding fatty pads elsewhere (like on my butt!)." and then they said the cost was about $1000 for each foot!!! AND it has to be repeated about every three months!! Holy cannoli! That's $8000 a year!! Well, I will take the $8000, buy a decent supply of Dr. Scholl's Gellin' Inserts and use the rest for a trip around the world, thank you very much!! I don't wear high heels or play tennis these days, haven't for many years, so I'll just cushion with a device and enjoy the money!!

Now ........ if I can just find someone who will give me $8000 each year.

  1. People will spend their hard earned money on the strangest things -- and that doesn't even sound "enjoyable" to have done! I'm with you -- give me those gel thingas and some cash and I'm good to go (and when you found out where to get $8,000 -- give me a shout!!) lol!

  3. Wow. That's a whole lotta money to have someone shoot stuff into your feet. OUCH!! I'm with you - gel inserts will do the trick. :)

  4. Too bad we can't have the fat from say...our bottoms transplanted to our feet. HAHA. The fact you would have to have this treatment repeated every 3 months would be another reason besides the money that I wouldn't have that done.

  5. Casey, doesn't that seem rather masochistic?? shudder

Daisy, LOL! Yeah, that might be better! But anything that can be summed up as "costly, painful, repeated" just is NOT good!!

  6. $8000 a year?

No way. I will wear inserts and use that money to fill up my car.

  10. WOw that is absurd! I could get over the needle pain. Slap some Emla cream on there before hand and you dont feel a thing. But there is no way my bank account would ever recover (or keep up for that matter)

  11. Tara, absurd, indeed! I've not heard of Emla cream, but sounds like something to check out. Can it be used for pain relief, arthritis or fibromyalgia?

If you have something to say about it, just stick out your thumb, and I'll slow down so you can hop aboard! But hang on, 'cause I'm movin' on down the road!!! No time to waste!!!
