I'm still sitting in bed, watching The View, and writing articles for the newspaper (I know, I'm lazy!!) and to my surprise a deer just jumped over the fence into the yard and is a foot from my window!!! But I can't go get the camera or I will scare her away!! I think it is the same doe that I photographed a while back in my yard with her two fawns. Right now the two babies (hardly babies now!!) are outside the fence grazing. One is a boy with little nubbins on his head where his antlers will be emerging soon. The other is just beyond a tree, so I can't see its head to see if it had nubbins, too.
Oh! Right now, Mama is looking in the window at China who is perched on the edge of the bed, seemingly wondering what the heck that is!! I guess it is pretty mutual! Oh, my, this is so amazing!! I have to move very slowly and carefully to not chase her away, but she is simply getting a bite of grass, then gazing in the window as she chews. Oh, Oh!! The baby boy just jumped the fence, too, and he is also right out side the window! Gasp! Here is the other baby, also a boy!
I know I sound like a goofball! I've been this close to deer before, but for some reason, this is just .... over the top cool!! My window is partially open and they must be hearing the TV, in spite of the wind that is blowing out there, but they are hanging around even with the human-noise!
This reminds me .... I need to go to town and buy a small tub or huge bucket so I can put out water for them. You know, I'm sure, that we shouldn't feed them because they become dependent on that, but water, especially is a drought like this, is a very good idea. So I need to finish these articles and get dressed so I can go on my errand!!
Later!
These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................
You know it doesnt' matter to me how many times I see it, nature still impresses me. Every time.
ReplyDeletecool
ReplyDeletePatti, me, too, but sometimes I just get giddy. This was one! LOL!
ReplyDeleteCameo, very!!
That Is so cool!!!
ReplyDeleteCheryl, isn't it???
ReplyDeleteAwesome, I love to see wildlife up close!
ReplyDeleteYankeeGirl, I do, too! Obviously!!
ReplyDeleteI could feel your excitement right through your writing and I was thrilled for you. What an experience. I used to love the deer when I was growing up in Minnesota.
ReplyDeleteNo deer here and with small pets, I am not at all thrilled when I see the ocassional coyote.
We had deer in our backyard on house inspection day...convinced Cowboy this was a good move. The are amazing creatures to watch.
ReplyDeleteI love the fact that I have deer right out my front door now. One day I knew I was going to be late to work, but I still just sat and watched the deer. It was like I was in a trance. I can't wait for the fall when they will be out more.
ReplyDeleteMaria, there are coyotes here too, but not many. I watch carefully when my wee ones go out, too. and yes, I was very excited!isn't it funny what a little thing like that will do to a person!?
ReplyDeleteMJ, I'd consider that a good sign, too!
Caroline, they are just amazing animals. I don't blame you for risking being late!
I love watching wildlife. Where I used to live when I was married, we had deer that would come pretty close to the house. Cool. Where I live now there are only rabbits, squirrels and birds. The squirrels are a nuisance with my flowers.
ReplyDeleteDaisy, I love it, too. Linda and I noticed that the deer on the mountain were more wary of us that the ones down here who have grown used to human invasion. I enjoy watching any of them, but I know they can cause a headache.
ReplyDeleteIt must be something to have wild life walk right up to your house and look in.
ReplyDeleteThe only wild life i see are my friends after happy hour
Walker, my wildlife if much quieter!! Whew!!
ReplyDeleteOnce again, your heart speaks..water for the deer due to the drought. You are a dear yourself. And how cool would that be to look up and see a deer looking in your window...uber cool!
ReplyDeleteSherry, it was uber cool, indeed! I got two rubber tubs and filled them with water. They are far enough from the house to give the animals comfort, but hopefully I will be able to see them. :)
