Two of The Kids are at the groomer. We're trying out a new groomer that is much closer to home. The previous one is really good, but she's almost 30 miles from here, across the mountain, through Ruidoso (a narrow winding drive), and half-way up another mountain. She wants the dogs to be there between 8:00 and 9:00, and it was just hard to get them fed, myself dressed, all of us out the door and make a 40-45 minutes drive before 9:00. Then I had to either drive all the way home to wait and drive back to get them, or find enough to keep me busy in town till they were ready, usually 1:00-3:00.
The new groomer in in Capitan, just an 11 miles drive for me. AND .... since she drives about 60 miles to get there, she doesn't want them that early. I took them at 1:00 and will pick them up before 4:00. Much easier. I just hope she is as good. She does a lot of Shih Tzu, so I assume she knows what she is doing.
I can't wait to see Sam and Max in another half-hour or so. Sam was scared stiff when I left them. I felt so sad for him! His little body was shaking, but he sat in that frozen pose he does when he is scared, and he looked at me with those little eyes as if he thought I was giving him away! Ohhhhhh. Max wasn't too happy, either, but he wasn't in total trauma. I can't wait to get back and let them know they are always, always coming home with me, no matter what!
Joey and Jazi will go tomorrow. They are both less traumatized because they have been in two good homes, mine and the rescue shelter, so I think they will be a little easier. I'm doing Ali here at home. He is so cranky that I don't want him to be further stressed. I may take him for just touch up and nail trimming. We'll see.
OK, gotta get ready to go get my boys. I'm as anxious as a new mother! But this is their first professional grooming since they got here, and it was clearly difficult for them both. I'm such a doofus when it comes to these babies!! sheesh.
