These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Clutter -> Clutterbug -> Lynilu

Well, that's my story. And yes, I'm sticking to it.

I need to do some serious housecleaning. No, organization. OK, organization, then cleaning. The house is actually pretty clean. I've always been good about that. When my kids were babies, crawling and playing on the floor, I vacuumed at least once a day, and I mopped bare floors at least every other day. The knees of their little pants barely got dirty. I'm not that obsessed on top of it nowadays, but still pretty clean. I vacuum two or three times a week and mop hard surfaces about once a week, as a comparison.

But .... a loud but .... "My name is Lynilu, and I am a clutterbug." There, I said it. I have a strong propensity for using something and putting it down wherever I am. In my defense, I usually think I'm coming back to use it again, but I don't. I don't until it is time to clean up, and by then I have a dozen or so whatevers to deal with. And let's be honest .... I know this about myself, so why do I let myself leave the whatever there in the first place? I don't know. As I write this, I am looking at a coffee table with four cookbooks, a manicure kit, two CDs, a book and several magazines that don't belong there! A few of those things have been there for a while. In fact, I can name a couple that don't have a specific place to go, somewhere of their own. So when I clean, they get moved to a different location (as above) until the next time the clutter gets on my nerves.

No, I don't want suggestions. I don't need de-cluttering hints. I know how to do this!! I just don't! So why am I writing this? Let's analyze it. This is a blog.

Main Entry: blog
Part of Speech: n
Definition: an online diary; a personal chronological log of thoughts published on a Web page; also called Weblog, Web log
Example: Typically updated daily, blogs often reflect the personality of the author.

It is my journal. It reflects my thoughts and glowing personality. [What? Oh, you're right. That definition doesn't say anything about "glowing," does it?] I can write what I wanna. And today I was just venting. I will say, however, that if anyone wants to come organize my house .... bring it on! But be prepared to come back frequently to do it again, 'cause it won't last! LOL!!

All this was brought on my my early morning thought of "I gotta get this place organized!" Maybe I should just go back to bed.

But before I clean house OR go back to bed, I have to get showered and dressed. I'm going to Linda's studio today. She is having an open house, and we are going to get a bite of lunch. Then I'll come home and organize. Maybe. Maybe.

The thing is .... unless it is really bad and really wide spread in the house, clutter really doesn't bother me most of the time. My house is usually at a stage that I'm comfortable with guests dropping in, and frankly, I have a lot of life to live; on the list of Things That Make My Life Worth The Living, de-cluttering the house is waaaaaaay down near the bottom! Things like Lunch With Linda keep floating to the top!

We are heading into a long period, two to three weeks, of potentially bad or at least unstable weather. They keep saying that the next week may put as much as 30 inches of snow in the mountains. Well, I'm in the mountains, but since the "sayers" are in Albuquerque and they typically focus on that metro area and north, I don't know if they are including all the mountains in NM. They seem to forget that more than half the State is south of them. I've looked at the weather spots on the internet, and most of them show the instability and talk about lots of wind, but snow is still not clear. My rural setting make it more vague. There isn't a town near by which they figure out their forecasts. When everyone says rain for my area, it is usually snow, or at least a mix. We'll see what happens. But I brought this up, because regardless of what falls from the sky or blows across the mountains over the next few days, it ain't gonna be purty outside, so I will have time inside to de-clutter. Maybe.

Geez, I can't keep the critters off the laptop this morning. It's a frequent problem, but particularly bad this morning! Little dickenses!

Alrighty, I had better get my "but" in gear and get ready to leave the house (and clutter). Out of sight, out of mind, you know! LOL!

I was recently reminded while reading another blog of something important that I haven't been remembering to say. I've been forgetting lately to remind myself and others that ....

.... Life is beautiful!!!!

Yes, it certainly is.

  1. What an intersting post. You were kind of all over the place. :)

I wouldn't say that you are a clutterbug. Your house is a lot like mine...it looks lived in. I hate houses where everything is so neat and in it's place that it looks like the house is not lived in.

You should be happy that you are not a tucker....like myself. When I want to clean my apartment I just tuck things and then forget completly where I tucked it. It used to drive Laura crazy. If I had known how we were going to end I would have tucked a lot more of her stuff through the years. hehe

Have fun this afternoon. Be sure to stock up so if you do get bad weather you won't need to go out and get anything.

  2. LOL! It was one of those posts in which everything was related but ....

Yes, my own clutter isn't (at least usually) overpowering, just a house in which life takes place before the tasks are completed.

I've tucked before! Well, maybe I'm not as much of a tucker as a scooper. When I don't have time to de-clutter before company, I've been known to grab plastic bags and scoop things in, then stow them out of sight until later. Sometimes *way* later!! Does that make me a "scooper-tucker"? LOL!

Yes, I have most of what I need, but I'm stopping for some milk and a couple other things after Linda's. :D

  3. Make sure you have enough alcohol. I truly believe you can never have enough alcohol when you are stuck inside with bad weather. :)

  5. What a fantastic post, I totally related to exaxtly what you were saying. Clutter does not bother me for months and then one day, it does and I get the garbage bag out and start moving. The girls and hubby get out of my way when I am on this tear. I get it in my head that life would be easier to handle if there was less clutter. That lasts for about an hour or so or at least for a few rooms, then I'm done. It is theraputic in a way. The joke with me at work was when they heard ripping coming from my office (I didn't have a shredder). I would start ripping papers, reports, etc. My co-worker would come in and say, "Oh, it is one of those days." It was funny, ripping and getting rid of the paper and junk, helped me. Mind you, this mood doesn't strike very often.

I say go out to lunch,be with friends and enjoy life. The clutter can wait.

I hope you are safe and sound when all that snow comes!

  6. Cheryl, I'm laughing about this: "The girls and hubby get out of my way when I am on this tear."

I used to be like that on Saturday morning. When I was working, that was my house cleaning time, and if you weren't helping, then get outta my way! Once my hub and a friend were drinking coffee at the kitchen bar, and I cleaned the whole house, leaving that room till last. I told them to move or grab a cleaning tool. The friend laughed, but the hub stood up. I just looked at our friend with "the eye," and he grabbed his coffee cup and got out of the room! LOL!

Thanks for the well-wishes. I will be just fine! :)

  7. I see your house in your pictures and I can tell you are not one of those clutterers that you are afraid to be. I agree with Caroline, stock up on wine!

  8. Julie, I suppose that our definitions of "clutter" would be relative, right? I know I'm not really bad, but I do wish I could learn to find "a place for everything" and remember to always put everything in it's place! You know how it is!

I have plenty of wine. And rum. And vodka. I'm a little short on Kahlua, but there is plenty of amaretto and Bailey's Irish Cream. Gee, I sound like a lush, don't I? LOL!!

  9. I am a "piler" everything goes onto a pile until I can't stand the pile and sort it all out. Most of it goes into the trash. So if it was going into the trash, why didn't I just put it there to begin with. I guess it's because I like piles.

  10. Ohhhhhh.....Kahlua and Creme. I think I need to have one of those this weekend. Remember when we used to get together to play dominoes and drink Kahlua and Cremes. Good times indeed.

  11. MJ, LOL! I guess we are related! I pile things, too! I pull out the "real" mail, and I stack the rest of it. I don't know why. Then I sort it out, taking a long time rather than just a couple minutes each day, and usually throw it all away!! sheesh.

Caroline, oh, those were the days!! Yumm! Love that Kahlua and cream!!!

  12. Hmmm. Before I read this, I was thinking of cleaning house. Now I may just have some amaretto.

If you have something to say about it, just stick out your thumb, and I'll slow down so you can hop aboard! But hang on, 'cause I'm movin' on down the road!!! No time to waste!!!
