Here's an important first that's about to happen -- the first female legislative majority in the nation, in January 2009.
Where is this progressive state in the union, you might ask? Trend-setting California? Chic Colorado? Liberal Massachusetts, birthplace of Susan B. Anthony? Or perhaps Ohio, home of sure-shot philanthropist for women's rights and other causes, Annie Oakley? No. Not one of these.
Here are three hints:
1. It's the state with the largest legislature in the United States.
2. It's the state with the the fourth-largest English-speaking governing body in the world.
3. It's the state famous for its early primaries every four years.
Your guessed it, the quiet female revolution will take place when the New Hampshire Senate re-convenes in January and, for the first time in the history of the nation, will have a female majority. As such, it's the first legislative body to be truly reflective of the female majority in this country. It only took 232 years to get to this point ...
Interesting!
