These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

By the Time I Get to Tucson....

I just realized there is less than a month before I will be in Tucson! I feel like I have a lot to do to get ready, but I wish the time would fly by!

I love when there are fun things to look forward to!!

But now I'm going to have Glenn Campbell's voice singing in my head all day.

  2. LOL, yeah, you're right! I just said on Facebook that retirees take a vacation from the drudgery of permanent vacation!

  4. I hope it does for me, too. The thing is, when we set the date, it seemed soon enough to me, but now time is dragging. Sighhhh.

  6. No, I'm going to Tucson, not Tulsa, Patti!! Well, I can't sing it to you here, but if you want to call me, I will! LOL! Maybe the words will ring a bell:
"By the time I get to Phoenix she'll be rising
She'll find the note I left hangin' on her door
She'll laugh when she reads the part that says I'm leavin'
'Cause I've left that girl so many times before

By the time I make Albuquerque she'll be working
She'll prob'ly stop at lunch and give me a call
But she'll just hear that phone keep on ringin'
    Off the wall that's all

By the time I make Oklahoma she'll be sleepin'
She'll turn softly and call my name out loud
And she'll cry just to think I'd really leave her
Tho' time and time I try to tell her so
She just didn't know I would really go."

  7. Glen Campbell was one of my Mom's favs, so I remember hearing him a lot when I was a kid. I still cry when I hear "Wichita Lineman" (not sure what that is all about, but true).

  8. I understand what you mean. Sometimes we associate the oddest things with people or events, and it isn't easy to turn it off. For me, hearing almost any song by Burl Ives (do you remember him?) reminds me of my daddy, but especially "Mockingbird Hill."

And I cannot smell fresh baked bread without the memory of my gramma in my head.

    Bittersweet.

If you have something to say about it, just stick out your thumb, and I'll slow down so you can hop aboard! But hang on, 'cause I'm movin' on down the road!!! No time to waste!!!
