There was a rainbow where there was no rain, no waterfall, nothing that I would usually expect when I see a rainbow. There were light wispy clouds in the sky, and the sun hitting them caused what was probably a halo around the sun. It didn't curve in an arc to the ground, the half-circle we typically see; rather, it swept out and around the sun and curved back in toward the bottom.
It was not a complete spectrum of colors, and I couldn't see it the whole way around. But there was a partial arc on each side of the sun, like you see in this photo, and it looked as if you could connect them in a complete circle.
I was able to watch this for about 30 minutes. It took my mind off the glare of the sun off my mind for that period, and was a really pleasant time. I pulled off onto the shoulder one one place to take these photos.
Sometimes, it is really nice to have an unexpected reminder of the great beauty in our world. I haven't said this here on the blog in a long time, but today seems a good time to remind myself and all of you ....
.... Life is beautiful !!!!
How beautiful and so very cool. Glad you made it home safe and sound. Please don't go away again. :)
ReplyDeleteNow, Caroline!!! You really don't expect me to be blogging between 11/11 and 11/16, do you???
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, simply beautiful. You were meant to be on that road, at that time. What a wonderful reminder that there is beauty all around us, if we just look.
