These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Writing on demand, my latest self-inflicted challenge

I am going to be involved with a writing group. It is being set up, organized right now. I think it will be fun. The whole group will have a challenge to write for ten minutes every day on a given topic. I've decided I want to know how well I do when I'm given a subject by someone else, one that isn't my choosing, to see how productive I can be "on demand." Another challenge for me will be to keep it to ten minutes. You know how verbose I can be!! I want to learn to be focused enough to complete an article in the ten minute time frame.

The purpose is simply to write, each on our own terms, toward our own goals. Mine is as I stated, knowing whether I can muster up for ten minutes on a topic that is arbitrary and be able to stay on task well enough to complete it in the framework of time. Someone else might want to improve writing skills. Maybe another might want to set the habit of daily writing.

If you would be interested, let me know. I will put you in touch with the spearhead of this project, my long time blogging buddy, Froggi Donna.

And when we get started I'll post the link for a blog where my 10 minutes wonders will be posted, in case you are interested in more reading.

  1. I did some writing classes when we first moved to Oregon in an effort to meet people. We did the 10 minute writing thing. It is very good to have to write about subjects not of your own choosing. All that to say I'm not a writer. I moved on to other things.

  2. I thought it would be an interesting thing to try. There's a difference between being a writer (which I am), and writing on demand. I'm thought about looking for some free-lance work, but I need to see if I can meet the challenge of other people's ideas before I embarrass myself!

  3. This sounds very fun. I would do it but I don't always feel like posting everyday. But I will look forward to what you come up with Lyn!

  5. So will you be writing on your blog or in a different place? I think I would do it if I could write on my blog instead of some other place.

  6. You write it on your own blog. I've created another blog just for this, keeping it separate from my others. Since each of the others has a purpose, I thought I'd keep this one in a space of it's own. Just clarity of purpose.

There is a central blog, a private one where the topics will be posted, then you write on your own. Make sense?

  7. I think I would love to try it I think, for me, it would be the discipline of writing every day, which I so badly need.
