These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Hot work

It is hot and windy, not a pleasant combination. Of course, keep in mind that 87° is hot to me. Still ......

Even the dogs are just lying around! Oh, whoops, Lolita and Sammy just got a second wind, apparently! They are chasing each other around on the deck! It's cooler out there, and I'm headed there as soon as I post this.

Lunch break. Whew. I'm wearing myself out! No, not really, but I'm certainly getting a workout.

Yesterday I got out the furniture polish and gave a good treatment to a gorgeous heavy-duty, three-part dressing screen. I'm taking it to Linda's shop. She will be able to use it for customers to try on clothing or jewelry, and if someone buys it, wonderful! I bought it just before I moved in here, and when I brought it here, it was just too big to look right. It is gorgeous carved wood with large mirrors on all three screens. It is probably Indonesian, judging from the style. A beautiful piece of furniture, but I can't use it. It will be nice for Linda to use it, or better yet, for someone to buy and put money in my pocket!

Today I moved the sections off the deck to make room, and I'll take it down to her place tomorrow or Friday.

I'm cleaning my deck today. I had already managed to get most of it done before today, but there were some last minute details I needed to do. A few things to be stored away, several things that needed to be moved off the deck (like the screen) as they are going to other places, and some rearranging of what belongs there. I washed the deck itself and the furniture to get rid of dust. I wanted to make sure everything is as clean as possible, then I will spray it down again tomorrow.

Tomorrow I will be cleaning the house itself. It's not bad, but there are some things out of place and I need to vacuum and dust. While I'm doing that, I'll be cooking a bunch of ribs. I'm going to slow bake them, then throw them on the grill late in the day to brown them and cook BBQ on part of them.

I'm doing all this because I'm having a pot luck dinner tomorrow night. There will be enough people here that we will need to use the deck, so I want it to be really nice. It wasn't bad, but just a lot of out of place things. I love how it looks right now! The only thing that will make it look better is when it gets painted. No, I still haven't done that. Soon, I hope, soon.

So, that's my exciting day. :p How's yours?

  1. Well let's see it's in the high 80's still at 6:30 pm but we may get storms later (which I hope). I am sitting in my chair with a very interested Reilly in my lap eating a bowl of rice n' pork.

Your potluck sounds like such fun! I sure wish I lived near you.

  2. You sound busy, busy, busy! The screen is gorgeous Lyn, I would have a hard time parting with it although I do understand why!
Pot Luck sounds good, almost as good as the ribs!
I spent yesterday cleaning my basement and floors. It exhausted me so I've been relaxing today. I have to clean my peoples house tomorrow!
Enjoy the pot luck! Love Di ♥

  3. Hope we get to see some pictures of the potluck, deck, etc. Guess those thunderstorms missed you, probably same for tomorrow. They look to be east of you. Enjoy your day with good friends and good food.

  4. I love dinner parties. Sounds like a fun time.

The screen is beautiful. It needs a big old house to show it off though.

We've had "Craft Camp" on my screen porch today. Lots of fun. I'm hoping to post about it in a little while. If I poop out, I'll post tomorrow.

  5. Patti, I wish you lived near, too. And I'd love to have some rain, but it doesn't look like it will happen anytime soon. :(

Di, yes, I am, and as you now, that isn't going to change any time soon! Our pot lucks are always very fun! We have such a great group.

Moni, some clouds went over earlier and it cooled just a little bit, but they were moving very fast and just zipped on. We have no rain in the near future. :( Dang. I'll try to take some pictures. I always get busy chatting and don't think of it till everyone is gone!

Pam, yes, it is a rather grand screen, isn't it? I had grand ideas, but ....

BTW, I think I am about ready to start our "assignment" again. I'll shoot you an email soon, OK?

If you have something to say about it, just stick out your thumb, and I'll slow down so you can hop aboard! But hang on, 'cause I'm movin' on down the road!!! No time to waste!!!
