These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Guard dog

My Max is such a goober!!!

I was doing my garden putzing, and the dogs were barking off and on, as they usually do. But every now and then, Max would do some serious ruffing, you know, the kind that says, "Stranger alert! Get out of here, intruder!!" He was barking at my truck which was parked right below the deck. I figured  the neighbor's cat sitting in the bed or something of the sort.

When I came up from the garden, I looked in the truck, and there was no cat or bird or raccoon or chipmunk to be seen. Whatever.

Then I looked down at the truck as I walked in the house, and I got it. Max was barking at himself!!  He saw his own reflection in the window of the truck! This was roughly what he saw ....

See? This was his view! Well, except he saw himself, not me and Lola.

And here I am, barking at myself!!

I am so frequently amused and entertained by these guys. But now Max and I have to take a nap. We are worn out from our protective barking!!

  4. Di, he continues to be funny over the truck. I moved it yesterday to change the reflection because he wouldn't stop barking, and it helped. He quit barking. However .... now he goes out and runs immediately to check the truck for "that dog"!! Since he doesn't see his reflection, he doesn't bark, but he repeatedly checks it out!!

  5. Makes you wonder how some days they can be so darn smart then other days you go "huh?"

For his sake, maybe someday they'll have to meet! LOL!

  7. Merri, "smart" is not global, with dogs OR humans!! One day yes, the next, duh! I wondered if I could somehow show him that there isn't a real dong in the car, but I can't figure out how. I am considering putting a mirror at floor level in the living room and just watching the show!! LOL!

Musicalbee, as I said above, sometimes Max is quite smart, and others he makes me slap my forehead! He's very street-smart, b ut that doesn't always extend into other areas! They are funny, aren't they?

  8. I don't really know how people can live without some pets to keep them company and also to entertain them. Animals are great! I love Max;)

  9. Moni, I agree. I sometimes think about how much easier it would be for me to travel, etc., but I can't picture me at home without my babies.
