These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Belly up to the bar!

The bar was busy this morning. I stepped to the deck to take some photos of the sunrise (does that surprise you??) and decided to take a video of the hummers. Here is one. I love how they swarm around! The nectar bar is a popular place, for sure!

And in this one, if you pay attention at three seconds into it, you can hear an elk bugling in the distance. You'll have to listen carefully, but it's clearly there. You may have to play it twice, because you'll want to hear the elk, but you will probably miss it the first time due to the background colors and the hummingbirds swirling around! Very distracting!

I am really going to miss those little birds when they go to Miami for the winter. OK, these aren't the "birds" that winter in Miami. I was just kidding. These little guys go to Mexico and Central America. Just think, if I take a trip to Costa Rica I might get to see these same little flitters!

The sunrise? Oh, yeah, it was awesome!

Really pretty, molten metal look to the clouds in the east.

Holy-schmoly, Batman! Fire in the skies!

I just had to show you this one. Just as I snapped, one of the little mutts bounced off my leg!

And I gotta get busy. Got some errands to run, and back to the house for some things here this afternoon. My house sitter is coming over to be updated on the dogs and their routines. Gonna take a couple days away, and he is gonna stay with The Kids. I think he is a bit nervous, since the last time here did, Max went on his own vacation. But it will be OK. Everything is much better secured now.

I'll check in with ya later!

  4. My dad has hummingbird feeders and says that they ADORE kool aid, which is much cheaper than the hummingbird syrup that the stores sell. You may already know this...just figured I'd pass it along!

  5. Julie, I've heard of that, but I've also been told that NO FOOD COLORING should be used, so the hummingbird mixtures AND Koolaid are out. I make a homemade syrup, nothing but filtered water and sugar.

If you have something to say about it, just stick out your thumb, and I'll slow down so you can hop aboard! But hang on, 'cause I'm movin' on down the road!!! No time to waste!!!
