These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

I GOT A JOB!!

I got the call this afternoon, and I'm delighted! Beginning Monday, I will be working at Hospice of Ruidoso. I am really happy to have this opportunity, because Hospice is an organization that I seriously respect. I'm not taking a Social Work position. I let my license lapse when I retired, and it was issued in Missouri, so I would have to essentially start over in the licensure process. It is both expensive and lengthy to do that, and I wasn't sure I wanted to do it.

The position is one of an administrative assistant and program coordinator. The major pieces are this: coordinate the Hospice program, including training and coordinating volunteers; coordinate the Bereavement program and prepare a news letter. While I'm notoriously disorganized in much of my personal life, I have always been well organized in the office, and I know this will be a boon in this position. With my Social Work training, I will have a good understanding of most of the necessary components of the program. And having the experience with Hospice during my husband's last few days has give me some experience and perspective from that side of it. I will probably understand the process of the job pretty easily and will be able to relate to those I am working with, both coworkers and clients.

It is not a full time position. I'll be working 25-30 hours a week, and that leaves me time for some of my own endeavors, productive and just for fun, too. I think this is goiing to work out just about as well as I could hope for.

Blogging will still take place. The schedule or regularity remains to be seen, but trust me .... You ain't rid of me yet!!  LOL!

  1. Best wishes on the new job, you sound happy.
It's funny how my clients would tell me how organized I am at the office, and then my husband would laugh (because I was not organized at home), Oh well!

  10. Hallelujah, at least one of my job finding prayers has worked. Now if they will finally work for my hubby.

There are some other prayers out there directed toward the girls, I hope those work as well - time will tell.

Sorry, I have been absent for over a month it always gets difficult to keep up with emails & blogs when our main computer is busy controlling our Christmas light show. This year we were an official donation site for Wounded Warrior Project.

  12. Part time work is great when you really want to be retired. You still have some free time, and won't have to worry about money as much.

    I'm glad for you!

  13. I am so happy for you! This is wonderful news. It sounds like this will be a perfect fit. I understand the not wanting to get up everyday, but once the shock of getting up and out the door is over, you will love having the contact and responsibility. Congratulations. I'm glad that you will not have all of the financial worries.

  14. This really sounds like the perfect job for you. Your Social Work training will come in very handy, when dealing with Hospice and all the issues that are involved with it.

It is a difficult job, emotionally and not everyone can handle dealing with death, on an almost daily basis. However, I think it takes a special kind of person to do that, and you certainly fit that criteria. Comforting a dying person in their final days, supporting the family is such a vital role and I can easily see you taking on this task. I am so thankful for Hospice and the different roles they have played in my life. They are a wonderful organization and their services are needed in every community.

congratulations on getting this job. A fellow Social Work friend of mine worked there and found the position very rewarding. Some days could be emotionally draining, but overall she loved working there and helping others in their time of need.

Let us know how it goes. I'm happy for you.
