It didn't take me long to decide that one. I chose the VW, of course! I chose one with a sunroof, just about the only option on a VW in those days, but it was a dandy. Unlike today's sunroof that barely opens, or even the generation before that, the one that actually opened, but was only about 10-12 inches wide, this one o.p.e.n.e.d! It was about 3 feet across and opened about 2.5 feet from front to back. It was big enough that four of us could pop up through it, and we did!!
I had more fun in that car over the next few years than I can tell you. It was a great car.
At the reunion, one of my friends was there who had not been to all the reunions. I was fortunate to see him in Las Vegas a few years back. He worked at one of the casinos, so while visiting a friend who lived there, we stopped in to see him. He was very busy, so our visit was short and not the best quality. When I saw him at this reunion, I was really happy that we had time to do some significant talking and catching up.
One of the things that came up as we talked was a mention of my VW. And all the sudden, I remembered that Larry had been one of a small group that ran around in my VW in those last couple months before graduation and the summer that followed. Neither of us could remember exactly what we did, but we both remembered driving around town and laughing and laughing, often until our sides hurt!
I had as many "guy friends" and I did girl friends back then. Larry was one of the best. He always had something funny to say and made everyone around him laugh. You can see by his grin here, he is a happy, jolly guy!
Seeing Larry, spending really good quality time with him was one of the highlights of the reunion for me.
I hope you all go to your reunions. They are so much fun!
