These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Owie update

Two weeks ago I posted this .....

Here's a different angle of it ....

And here it is today ....

I'll definitely have a scar!

There is the small one, the less serious one on the ring finger ....

No, I'm not unwrapping the middle finger to show you. You don't want me to do that. It's still really, really icky. And oh yeah, it's gonna scar, too.

And yes, I'm using the cooking utensils with the looooong handles now.

  1. Heaven forbid this ever happens again. Here is the egg white solution for burns.

Keep in mind this treatment of burns is being included in teaching beginner fireman. First Aid consists of first spraying cold water on the affected area until the heat is reduced which stops the continued burning of all layers of the skin. Then, spread the egg whites onto the affected area. One woman burned a large part of her hand with boiling water. In spite of the pain, she ran cold faucet water on her hand, separated 2 egg whites from the yolks, beat them slightly and dipped her hand in the solution. The whites then dried and formed a protective layer.
She later learned that the egg white is a natural collagen and continued during at least one hour to apply layer upon layer of beaten egg white. By afternoon she no longer felt any pain and the next day there was hardly a trace of the burn. 10 days later, no trace was left at all and her skin had regained its normal color. The burned area was totally regenerated thanks to the collagen in the egg whites, a placenta full of vitamins.

    1. I'd heard of the egg white idea, but when I checked it out, I found it was false. After this happened, I also checked with my doc, and he said I'd done exactly the right thing. Here are some resources for checking on the egg whites:

      But thank you for caring!

  2. Glad you're healing and that it wasn't any worse than it was. <-- There's got to be something grammatically incorrect about that sentence. In that first photo, it almost looks like a bug of some sort perched on your thumb at the top . . . I know it's something on a shelf, but I could "see" antennae . . . ;) Yes, I'm having a silly Saturday. Totally glad you're healing, my friend!

    1. Hey, as long as I know what you're saying, the sentence is perfect!

The antennae are tow heads of grass in a miniature pot on the shelf. I hadn't noticed that before, but now I'm cracking up! You character!

      Thanks!.

  6. Ouch, maybe use "shake and bake" instead of pan frying. Hope you are feeling better and that it does not scar badly.

    1. Teri, I usually bake or roast! Couldn't believe my lack of dexterity! I'll certainly be more careful. As for the scar, it will be there, but since having it uncovered for a couple days, it is looking much better, less "scarry." Thanks.

  8. Ahem, I once did that or something similar and still had to go to work. Not in London where I worked but in Madrid, Spain, where I was flying to in the morning for a conference.

Best of luck and more sense next time!

    1. I was fortunate that this happened on a Saturday night, so I didn't have to face work until Monday. Still .... this kind of injury just stinks!

  9. So this is what happens when I take off from blogging for a few weeks!! Seriously Lyn I read what happened and you are a brave one! That really hurts I know first hand or I should say foot. I once made popcorn on the stove (about 30 years ago) Tipped the pot upside down with lid particially on to drain off some excess oil. It went all over my foot! I felt really stupid!
You be careful now, I don't know how soon I'll be back!!
    Love Di ♥

    1. Di, as bad as this was, it was better than had I burned my foot. It is far too cold to go without shoes!! But regardless of where, it is not fun.

    1. I was typing with my left hand and the index finger on the right. After the first day, I was managing surprisingly well!

If you have something to say about it, just stick out your thumb, and I'll slow down so you can hop aboard! But hang on, 'cause I'm movin' on down the road!!! No time to waste!!!
