These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Tomorrow is 8/14 . . .

Tomorrow is Kylee's birthday, and the family spent the weekend in their former hometown with friends. On their way home, they met me at the newest, funnest kid place in town. Those of you who live near or have visited a Rain Forest Cafe know how much fun they are. The same company is starting a new chain, and the first one is in here the KC metro. It is called "T-Rex." Instead of the jungle theme of RFC, T-Rex is, obviously, a dinosaur theme. Kylee is very interested in studying dinosaurs (rather seriously), so we thought it would be a fun place to try out.

Let's start out with a picture of the 2 most beautiful women in the place. ;-)

And then one of Kylee and her dad. He's not as beautiful, but I need to humor him. Mom had to continue on home. It's a long story, but it doesn't have anything to do with her mother-in-law. Really, it doesn't.

While we waited to be seated, Kylee played in a "dig." There were "fossils" scattered though the sand that kids can find and take with them, at a price, of course. Kylee wasn't interested in those. She was fascinated in uncovering the "dinosaur bones" in the area.

Each kid was given a brush, and just as on a real dig, they could brush away the debris to reveal a treasure.

She spent probably close to a half hour on different "bone piles." Then she moved on to computerized interactive games for a while.

As usual, she made a new friend right away.

At the end of the afternoon, Kylee got to visit the store which features, among other fun faux-relics, a Build-A-Dinosaur center. Yeah, now the Build-A-Bear company has branched out! Here she is "bathing" her new-born friend, Flower. Dad and Mom got her the dinosaur, and I sprung for on outfit. After all, we can have a nekkid donosaur running around until they come back up here next time, now can we?

The highlight of her dinner was a chocolate/caramel sundae and having the staff sign Happy Birthday to her. She enjoyed saying that she was "9 and 364 / 365ths years old."

As for Scott and me, we enjoyed the time to visit and catch up since we don't usually talk as often as Connie and I do. And the dinner was very good. I'll say one thing for this company . . . their menus are really good and priced reasonably. I brought home half of mine and an extra goodie (a pot pie) so I don't have to fix dinner for the next couple days. My mama didn't raise a dummy!!

Hey, everyone, have a good week!! Any week that starts with a grandchild's birthday just has to be a good one!!

  2. Glad you guys had a good time. I can't believe how grown up Kylee is getting. I remember the first time I saw her I thinks he wasn't even two yet. If she reads this.."Happy Birthday Kylee". On a sidenote: James' older brother has two boys that turn 10 day also.

  3. stevepanella - Thank you for the birthday wishes, your visit here and for the comments. seven does well in challenging our thoughts, doesn't he? I'm glad I found the blog and got involved, and I've enjoyed your notes there as well. Have a safe adventure.

st - Yes, she is. Her eyes are amazing, like her father and aunt TL. Yesterday they were really green. Do you know that all my life I said I had brown eyes because they look so from a few feet away. The one day when I was putting on makeup and actually looked at what I saw in the mirror and discovered that they are actually green! There is a golden-tan halo around the pupil and the greater part is green. I always wondered how my kids got those amazing grey-green-blue eyes from a brown-eyes mom and a blue-eyed dad. Oh, I know the genetic stuff, but I was just amazed that their eyes were so unique. And it only gets better with this next generation. I know I'm biased, but I have a beautiful bunch of grandkids!

Well, dear girl, Tulsa is not really *that* close! It is a little over half-way. I promise you I will make a trip to the Dallas area when I get settled. If I had more time now I would, but it will be better if I make a trip when I can plan to spend a few days. I can't do that right now. I have you in my circuit, I promise!
