These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Dessert Was The Big O

Caroline and Laura took me out for dinner tonight. Wonderful dinner! We went to a marina converted into a fine restaurant and had one of the best meals I've had in a long time. A 5 course dinner, each with it's own matched wine. The dessert was this . . . well, an orgasmically wonderful chocolate thing coupled with a nice port wine. Oh.My.God.

The view was excellent, looking over one of the local lakes where we could watch the sun go down over the water. Right next to us, in case we got tired of the view over the lake, was a huge salt water aquarium with some of the most exquisite fish and plant-life imaginable.

I had an excellent time. Good food, great company, perfect evening. Life is good!

This was the first of my official going away dinners. I started to say “goodbye dinner,” but this won’t be goodbye. It’s just a send-off to my next journey.

Boy, after working hard all day, having a really good meal and wine, I’m ready for bed! MaƱana, everyone!

  3. Great explanation of the desert. It really was that good. Secretly I don't go there for the food or the view, but it's the desert that I know is coming at the end of the meal. Great idea that Ragged had for the book. She always has all the good ideas. :)

  5. caroline - when I come to visit, we are going back there, right??? And yes, ragged has some wonderful ideas. Very thoughtful lady in our midst.

patti - We didn't finish any course. It wouldn't be possible!! Listen to this: appetizer - crab cake, shrimp cake and tuna thing with avocado and rice(sushi-esque, but not raw); soup - a chowder with corn and panchetta with some other stuff; salad - bed of spinach, sliced pears, caramelized pecans and blue cheese with a vinaigrette (first time I’ve liked blue cheese, BTW!); entree - they had filet mignon, and I had apakapaka, Hawaiian red snapper with a rub of macadamia nuts and garlic, topped off with a pineapple sauce, and some other stuff that I don’t remember; dessert - as you know, the BIG O!! Honey, it was DEE-vine!!

  7. It was the The Marina Grog and Galley at Lake Latowana. Try it. The food was truly awesome. I guess I sounded like a real rube who never eats out in a real restaurant, but it was worthy of the hoopala. Go to caroline's blog (link in the post) and see a couple pictures taken from our table and one of the sunset over the lake as we left.
