These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Delayed Post

I was in the process of starting a new post this morning when a couple things happened, and I had to make a trip to Roswell. It's a long story and not all that interesting. The point is that I didn't finish the post until now. Here goes ....

Well, Caroline is such a party pooper. She told me that when she comes to visit me in the fall, her best friend S is coming with her. No, that's not why she's a party pooper. Just wait. I thought I would include that information in my post today, but if you notice the comments in the previous post, she couldn't stand it. She had to announce it herself! That's why the party pooper title goes to her. It's OK, I know she is excited that S has finally taken me and Caroline up on the offer. I'm excited, too, both to see Caroline and to meet S.

I'm looking forward to meeting her as she has become so important in Caroline's life. Caroline and I have been friends for a long time. We "met" in 1998 (is that right, C?) when she moved into the house next door to me. But I had known her since she was a little bitty squirt, maybe 4-6 years old, because the house had previously belonged to her grandmother, and she visited there frequently. I didn't see her for many years. She visited her grandmother, but didn't come into the yard to play, so was invisable to me. And then there she was!

Despite our ages, we have remained close since then. I was pleased to learn that Caroline was a Social Worker, my own chosen profession. We had a lot in common. I've been with C through a lot of her challenges, and when she found S, I felt like this is a person who would be a very positive participant in her life. And she has been. Now, several months later, Caroline is the happiest I've seen her since she was a little girl, and that makes me very happy, too. Soooooooo, I can't wait to meet S!

There you have it, the big announcement, the good news! C'mon, October!

  1. Awwwww...thank you so much for the very kind words. I can't wait to come visit you again and really see where you live. I hate the fact that the first time I saw your new home I was an emotional wreck. I remember sitting at home right after the break up and I felt like I needed to go to a place where I felt safe and loved, and your home was the first place that came to my mind.

I have a feeling that after we visit, S and I will come home and start planning our move to New Mexico.

I did move to the house in 1998, but it wasn't until May 12, 1999 (yes I remember the date) when you and Glenn were taking a walk and I stopped and said "hi" to the two of you and well...the rest is history. :)

    I love you my friend.

  2. What a great friendship. I hope you get to meet S. very soon. Doesn't it make you so happy, to see the people we care about so much so happy and at peace. Social Worker, you know I love that.

  3. Caroline, I know you weren't up to appreciating much when you were here. And honestly, my house was still in major disarray. But I'm glad I could be here for you. The first time I was here was right after Glenn died, and although Allan showed me all around, I wasn't up to appreciating it either. I hope your second stop here is as meaningful as mine was.

Your memory for dates is uncanny! I believe you are a true savant on that. You notice i didn't put "idiot" with that! Giggle!

    I love you, too. :)

Cheryl, yes, when our loved ones come out of a long down-streak, it is so great to see. I've been so surprised at the number of SWs I've run into on the internet and added to my list of friends. You included! :)

  4. If it means anything I have always been interested in social work. If I were to go to college and hold a job that is the area that I wanted. I am glad Caroline has a great friend like you

  5. And I'm glad to have her as a friend, too, Bobbie. :)

  6. We social workers do have a habit of sticking together.

  7. Nick, perhaps we understand each other's "bleeding-heart," liberal souls as no one else truly can?

  8. Oh those social workers...what a breed we are. You'll like S. I'm glad Caroline has a great friend like you.

  9. Good point, Lynilu. Perhaps only another social worker can understand our altruistic fervor!

  10. MJ, we are, for sure!

Nick, you kinda have to "be there," don't you?

  11. Yep, you did have to be there.

BTW, did you hear the one about the social worker who asks a collegue: "What time is it?"

The other one answers: "Sorry, don't know, I have no watch."

The first one: "That's OK! The main thing is that we talked about it."

  12. LOL! Nick, that is rich! Thanks!

If you have something to say about it, just stick out your thumb, and I'll slow down so you can hop aboard! But hang on, 'cause I'm movin' on down the road!!! No time to waste!!!
